arthur j. branham is a federal investigator operating under restricted appointment with the federal bureau of investigation. a former special agent, he attempted to leave the field after a mission ended in tragedy. his resignation proved more complicated than escape, unintentionally pulling him deeper into the bureau’s shadow. bound by sealed obligations and entangled within the bureau’s reach, he continues to lend his expertise in surveillance, field investigation, and behavioral analysis to cases that blur the line between necessity and control. the bureau calls when the jobs are strange, when expertise is scarce, and when they need a man who knows how to disappear into the work. gifted with a magic that marks him as an anomaly, arthur is treated as both asset and liability, observed as much as he is deployed. each case he takes is haunted by the suspicion that his true investigation is his own: what the government has made of him, what they continue to demand, and whether his soul is his own to keep.

brief of preliminary investigation

Below is a brief of the results for a preliminary investigation into Special Agent A. J. BRANHAM. The information is consistent with background checks, reporting files, and evidence gathered during the Agent's application with the Agency. The Agent has been approved for clearance level SECRET and will continue his post with the Counterintelligence Division under Counterintelligence Analyst Section Chief M. FORD and Supervisory Special Agent D. GABOR.

ARTHUR JIMMY BRANHAM, born Arseny Anastos Brahm in Sedona, Arizona on March 20, 1982, is the child of immigrants Elena Branham, born Elena Anastos, and Jim Branham, born Ilya Brahm.Originally from Russia, Mrs. Branham, then known as Elena Anastos, migrated to America to escape religious persecution in 1970. Mr. Branham, then known as Ilya Brahm, migrated in 1976 to escape ties to Moscow.(1) The pair are likely to have met while working for the same Russian-owned finance company, Roskrit Holdings, in New York during the late 70's.Investigative efforts uncovered documentation of Mrs. Branham's involvement with the Svetraba,(2) an extremist parachurch organization, starting as early as 1978.On May 19, 1980,(3) Mr. and Mrs. Branham officiated their marriage in Brooklyn, New York. Mr. and Mrs. Branham are recorded to have moved to Sedona, Arizona in 1981 in order to prepare for the birth of their son. Mr. Branham begins employment at another finance firm, Lenora Wealth Management, shortly after. On March 20, 1982, ARTHUR JIMMY BRANHAM is born under the name Arseny Anastos Brahm at Sedona Medical Center. On May 15, 1983, Mrs. Branham begins employment at Sedona Medical Center. Records indicate a growing surge of Svetraba sect followers migrating to the area. Additional investigation suggests that Mrs. Branham was an active sect member using medical roles to reach vulnerable populations and recruit new members. There is a minor investigation for medical negligence on her record, though no hard evidence was ever recovered during her stint in Sedona Medical Center, nor during her employment at Long Lake Hospital in Long Lake, New York starting 1987.There is record of several people of interest visiting Sedona, Arizona between 1984-1986, mainly members of Russian bratvas with suspected ties to Moscow resources. This is likely the reason the Branham family moves back to New York in 1986 and settles in Long Lake. Mr. Branham submits a legal petition during this time to naturalized the family name, adopting Americanized aliases and losing their original Russian monikers. On May 15, 1987, Mrs. Branham begins employment at Long Lake Hospital, presumably continuing active practice of Svetraba rituals and remaining in contact with local sects. Around this time, Mr. Branham begins the process of pursuing a career with the New York State Police. It is unclear what causes his career shift, though it can be speculated that this was likely an attempt to access additional protections for himself and his family through state law enforcement. He passes all requirements for the position and is sworn in as an officer on January 10, 1988.In March 1988, the Branham family is mentioned in a report regarding a drowning. Records indicated that a Mr. Emmett Carey died by fatal drowning at Long Lake State Park. He was the husband of Mrs. Adria Carey, a coworker of Mrs. Branham, and father to their daughter, Ms. Rona Carey. Reports indicate that the family was attending a birthday event at the park hosted by the Branham's at the time. Testimonials from the police file indicate that the deceased fell through the ice and was unable to be recovered. The body was later miraculously found a few miles down shore. The person reported as discovering the body was ARTHUR JIMMY BRANHAM, then aged 6.(4) Therapeutic services were offered to the family for the encounter, but the Branham's declined services. On October 23, 1992, a report from Child Protective Services (CPS) is filed on the Branham family. A CPS agent visited the family home after a teacher reports unexplained injuries on ARTHUR JIMMY BRANHAM. The child was found to have multiple bruises and stitches on the body. CPS concluded that the child is in good care(5) and the injuries were a result of accidents while performing recreational activities. The report was closed without need for further investigation. In May 1999, Department of Education confirmed that ARTHUR JIMMY BRANHAM graduated from Long Lake Highschool. He is accepted to Duke University over the following summer.Documents dated July 29, 1999 report that the family home was engulfed in flames. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 11:59pm, approximately 35 minutes after the fire broke out. Reports indicate that the fire was caused by a leaking gas pipe below the house. Elena and Jim are reported dead on the scene, leaving ARTHUR JIMMY BRANHAM as the sole survivor.(6)In October 1999, Department of Education confirmed that ARTHUR JIMMY BRANHAM began attendance at Duke University. Records indicate that ARTHUR JIMMY BRANHAM reached a housing agreement with the university in order to live on-campus while in attendance. Permanent address is later listed as an apartment close to campus grounds. In December 2002, records indicate that ARTHUR JIMMY BRANHAM completed all examinations and requirements to join the Durham Police Department (DPD). He is sworn in as an officer(7) in June 17, 2003. He is documented to work part-time while completing degree program. In May 2004, Department of Education confirmed that ARTHUR JIMMY BRANHAM graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Arts in International Law. Records also determine that he passed the emergency medical technician and state paramedic certifications in the same year. DPD records report ARTHUR JIMMY BRANHAM working fulltime in both officer and paramedic functions.(8)In May 2006, ARTHUR JIMMY BRANHAM applied for a hybrid JD/MPP program. He is accepted into the program in August 2006.On April 7, 2007, ARTHUR JIMMY BRANHAM meets Special Agent D. LOUIS(9) on a joint operation with DPD and the FBI. Special Agent D. LOUIS references this case in recommendation for the special agent position in the Counterintelligence Division based on their collaborative work over the next few months. On June 2, 2008, ARTHUR JIMMY BRANHAM submitted an application to the FBI with referrals from Special Agent D. LOUIS, several supervisors on the DPD, and council members of the Durham City Council.ARTHUR JIMMY BRANHAM is approved for appointment as Special Agent on May 24, 2009.

  1. Later investigation reported Mr. Branham to have defected from the KGB, though the extent of his relationship to Moscow and the Central Committee has been indeterminate. There is no indication that Agent is familiar or aware of this connection.

  2. Svetraba has been reported to focus on religious practices that involve bloodletting (through self-flagellation or acts of violence onto others) as a means of spiritual release. Many sects have divulged into cult-like activities under a leader called a Svetonoset who is purported as a true messenger of God. Svetraba has since been labeled as a dangerous organization with criminal ties into violent crimes such as murder and trafficking.

  3. There is documentation of an uptick in KGB activity in the northeastern region from 1975-1985 that correlates with the emergence of Russian crime organizations and Soviet-backed bratvas. It is likely that Mr. Branham was involved in this underlying activity until his marriage in 1980.

  4. Polygraph indicated Agent's initial claim of accidental discovery was false. Agent later corrected statements to indicate that he had an active role in recovering the body from the river. Agent declined to comment on how that was possible, though there is indication that this is related to the investigation into phenomena related to the Agent, referenced as “unique skills,” as outlined in Agent's file.

  5. Agent has admitted to long-term physical abuse by guardians stemming from the drowning incident in 1987 and continuing through his early life. CPS was unable to make a determination during their investigation and did not visit the family again. It is suspected that Mr. and Mrs. Branham worked together to hide the abuse using their respective professions. Can be assumed that the abuse was amplified by outside stressors, including increased pressure from Svetraba to follow a strict regimen of violence for religious enlightenment. Additional investigation is needed to determine if this may be related to the Agent's “unique skills.”

  6. PLEASE NOTE: Agent has declined to divulge details beyond the police report about the events leading to the death of Mr. and Mrs. Branham. There is inconsistent reporting between firefighters, law enforcement, and testimonials from the Agent. Additional investigation uncovered unusual details involving the Agent's “unique skills” and reported supernatural phenomenon in regards to this incident and the 1987 drowning. Evidence points toward suspected supernatural occurrences produced by the Agent, including incidents relating to a variety of kinetic abilities, bioluminescent properties, and tactile, auditory, and visual illusion. Several other anecdotes allude to similar incidents over the Agent's lifetime. Investigation clearance and case identifier has been changed to CLASSIFIED — C-ID #00–0000–M1 TOP SECRET and remains ongoing.

  7. Agent is noted to have several achievements while working with the DPD, including marks for excellent service and commitment toward upholding the standards of the law. Agent was regarded well among all interviewees, with several members of the DPD and Durham City Council participating in preliminary interviews. Several interviewees mentioned his achievements during his five year tenure with DPD, though there was a remarkable lack of personal information mentioned across all interviews, even among peers.

  8. Some interviewees reported similar signs of unexplainable phenomena occurring at or around the Agent during particularly high stress environments, perceived dangerous or hostile circumstances, and times of extreme emotional distress. These occurrences appear to have been amplified as the Agent sought more high-impact, field-orientated tasks. Further research is needed to correlate findings with suspected supernatural occurrences as listed in C-ID #00–0000–M1 and related classified laboratory files.

  9. Ongoing relationship with Special Agent D. LOUIS will be outlined in service brief along with additional notes on Agent's achievements, reprimands, and contributions toward C-ID #00–0000–M1 and subsequent laboratory findings, if any.

Counterintelligence Division (2009-2016)

Special Agent A. J. BRANHAM had taken to active field surveillance, forgoing traditional permanent housing for a traveling role, with the Agent staying in Quantico during lag times. The Agent has a proven track record of surveillance achievement, with notable cases worked including C-ID #145-675 and #051-788, both relating to international surveillance efforts overseas. The Agent showed excellent potential in active surveillance and threat analysis, though continued to struggle with interpersonal connection and emotional regulation. An increase of anecdotal concerns regarding the Agent's behavior and correlating unexplained phenomena had resulted in further internal investigation regarding C-ID #00–0000–M1. Efforts to determine threat level, security concern, and strategic advantage had been ramped up by demand from ████████. The Agent remained active in the field while confidential investigation continued throughout the Agent's tenure. In 2011, months into the investigation provided indeterminate evidence toward the cause of suspected activity. More research was needed to draw accurate conclusions surrounding extent and origin of activity. External factors were unlikely but were properly investigated, starting with parental ties to Russian-based agencies and illegal Svetraba activities. Potential for Special Agent A. J. BRANHAM to be related to reported unexplainable phenomena in the field increased as investigation continued. During this time, the Agent completed JD/MPP program and began specializing field work in improving state and federal communication policies, as well as strengthen communication regulations abroad.Special Agent A. J. BRANHAM began physical and medical testing February 23, 2012 to further investigation and gather concrete evidence toward suspected activities, though the Agent remained unaware of true reasoning behind biological diagnostics at the time. Pressure to test the Agent in more combative field roles proved unpopular amongst peers, though such pressures continued to culminate from leadership, with additional influence from agencies outside of jurisdiction. Intelligence role and supervisory team became detrimental to further research, resulting in a request for the Agent's transfer in May 2016. Request was approved by ████████ in the same month.

may 26, 2016effective immediately: agent a. branham will be removed from the supervision of section chief m. ford and withdrawn from the counterintelligence division. agent a. branham is to be reassigned to director m. punitt and placed with the critical incident response group at the washington, d.c. headquarters. transfer i.d. #05284 reason listed as confidential.

Critical Incident Response Group (2016-2019)

During Special Agent A. J. BRANHAM’s tenure with CIRG, the Agent was quick to pick up CIRG protocols. After team adoption with Supervisory Special Agent M. BARRETT at the lead, the Agent quickly fell into rank and began efforts to fulfill information and interrogation needs for the CIRG team with exceptional success. Peer reports suggest that the Agent was heavily involved in supporting team dynamics, becoming a staple presence within Supervisory Special Agent BARRETT’s 5-man deployment. However, performance declined as the Agent was pushed into more direct frontline roles within the group. Suspected unexplained phenomena related to the Agent was reported to have increased drastically as the Agent became more involved in demanding cases and critical incidents. At the direction of ████████, CIRG Assistant Director M. PUNITT advised the team’s assignments in order to monitor the Special Agent A. J. BRANHAM’s outcomes. The Agent’s involvement in several high-risk, high-stakes environments was systematically authorized by internal handlers responsible for C-ID #00-0000-M1 in order to elicit concrete evidence for hypothesis behind reported unexplained phenomena.Early findings proved that unconventional procedures were fruitful in producing desired outcomes for Special Agent A. J. BRANHAM’s case, as described in case briefings for C-ID #185-003 and C-ID #203-416. However, the Agent’s growing skepticism of the director's involvement and suspicion for the Agency’s intentions evolved more rapidly than anticipated. In addition, the increasing strain on the Agent to perform within expectations while in compromised environments appeared to affect the Agent’s ability to maintain discretion when utilizing and accessing “unique skills.”While the Special Agent A. J. BRANHAM’s exposure was a primary goal of C-ID #00-0000-M1, an unexpected lack of composure from the Agent led to discussions regarding risk assessment for maintaining the Agent as an asset for the Agency. Peer reports began to suggest internal unease with the Agent’s presence, noting an uptick of erratic behavior beginning after the resolution of C-ID #387-163 in June 2018, where the Agent was reported to have a heated confrontation with Supervisory Special Agent BARRETT outside of the Agent’s designated reporting location for Lab ID #M1-0000-0210. The Agent became combative about risks taken when involving him in frontline negotiations and first-contact raids. The Agent noted growing concerns for peers, admitting to a lack of control when faced with unsupported difficulties in the field. Supervisory Special Agent BARRETT raised concerns to Director PUNITT, though supporting records suggest that both men were directed by ████████ to continue applying pressure to the Agent despite opposing peer recommendations.

location: long lake, ny
classification: classified – security level tsm1
investigating division(s): cirg / counterintelligence

summary

CIRG identified a Svetraba sect, The Circle of Light, operating from a secluded compound in Long Lake, NY. Special Agent A. J. BRANHAM was assigned as assistant lead negotiator due to his familiarity with the location and expertise in identifying behavioral manipulation and deceptive practices, which made him an asset in cases involving indoctrination tactics. Previous reporting determined that his uncanny ability to detect falsehoods and emotional shifts would help assess threats, identify potential victims, and determine the sect’s true intentions. On December 15, 2018 at 04:50 EST, CIRG operatives made contact with cult members. Special Agent A. J. BRANHAM, notably distracted, appeared unsettled upon entering the compound. Despite his denial of personal involvement, he demonstrated familiarity with Svetraba practices, symbols, and beliefs. When questioned, he admitted his mother had been involved in cult activity when he was a child, though he insisted he had never participated.Further investigation confirmed reports of unlawful detainment of members, possession of unregistered firearms, and unauthorized medical experimentation under the guise of purification rituals. During an attempted negotiation to release detained hostages, the sect leader appeared to recognize Special Agent A. J. BRANHAM's "unique skills," fixating on the color change in his eyes and referencing a prophecy of a figure marked by golden light who would bring transformation, either as a harbinger of renewal or destruction. In clear distress from being singled out, Special Agent A. J. BRANHAM attempted to disengage. The situation escalated into a violent confrontation between CIRG operatives and cult members. In the ensuing chaos, Supervisory Special Agent BARRETT was directed to pull out of the engagement, taking the remaining surviving hostages but purposefully leaving Special Agent A. J. BRANHAM behind at the compound.Special Agent A. J. BRANHAM was subsequently detained by cultists, with recovery efforts slowed by communication hurdles within the Agency. Intelligence later revealed ████████ had colluded with sect members, offering lesser criminal penalties in exchange for orchestrating an elaborate experiment on Special Agent A. J. BRANHAM’s abilities. Over several days, Special Agent A. J. BRANHAM was subjected to physical and psychological torment, his resilience observed and tested while ████████ extracted information on his reactions to extreme duress. On December 25, 2018 at 02:46 EST, Special Agent A. J. BRANHAM was recovered after a massive explosion was reported at the compound, which resulted in the deaths of all cultists involved. His severe condition upon retrieval—disoriented, naked, covered in blood, and barely conscious—suggests he may have lost control of his abilities in a desperate escape attempt. Autopsy reports confirmed most sect members were killed prior to the explosion by questionable circumstance, including extreme blunt force trauma, dismemberment, and severe burning, indicating Special Agent A. J. BRANHAM's abilities may have activated involuntarily under distress.Special Agent A. J. BRANHAM’s post-recovery condition remains critical, with severe physical trauma, extreme psychological distress, and gaps in his memory regarding the escape. His distrust toward FBI leadership deepened into outright paranoia, making debriefing efforts difficult. His biological rejection of medical treatment worsened, requiring alternative care methods. Repeated hallucinations and erratic pulse fluctuations suggest possible long-term neurological effects from prolonged exposure to the sect’s torture methods. He has been assigned long-term medical leave while recovering. His involvement in a catastrophic power discharge at the compound remains under investigation. Internal discussions regarding Special Agent A. J. BRANHAM’s future within the Agency remain indeterminate, with some arguing for permanent containment rather than continued deployment. Final decisions regarding the Agent are being deferred to ████████.Despite clear evidence of Bureau complicity, official documentation has been sanitized to remove mention of internal involvement. Media scrutiny has been minimized and case details have been classified. Further reassignment is pending classified-level review.

re: subject m1210 - summary briefing

Physical Testing Protocol:

The following tests and observations were made during the designated period:

Analysis does not include results from active field testing. Field notes are included in related case files. It should be noted that the Subject was tested through active field work to determine general use cases for defined abilities. As of current, it has been established that the lack of clear understanding for nuances, including origin of abilities, and heavy reliance on clear, comprehensive mental stability provides barriers for fully utilizing the Subject without risk of unprecedented outcomes. Further testing of containment and control measures is recommended.

Additional Observations:

Subject's psychological testing shows the Subject is prone to emotional suppression and internalized trauma. Subject's empathic nature, combined with the ability to detect subtle emotional cues, appears to cause significant strain on the Subject's mental health. Subject's emotional regulation issues are a critical concern, as cognition and mental influence has been proven to maintain cordial control of the Subject's known abilities. Under severe stress, the Subject's abilities have the potential to amplify uncontrollably, with potential to cause severe damage or destruction to both the environment and individuals in proximity. While external methods to control this are in production, it is difficult to predict when the Subject may be experiencing episodes of instability. Additional physical stressors have a high likelihood to impact the Subject negatively, with signs of deterioration of the Subject's wellbeing correlating with both mental and physical strain. Growing combativeness to the Agency is also disrupting continuous monitoring efforts, making the Subject a potential liability for the Agency should abilities become unmonitored, or in the worse case, utilized against the Agency. Further scrutiny is recommended to solidify control of the Subject for further testing.

Lab Report ID #LR-2458

subject: arthur jimmy branham (special agent a. j. branham)
date of report: december 1, 2019
security level: tsmx (top secret / level x)
lab id: m1-0000-0210
case reference: c-id #00-0000-m1

Known Abilities:

Telekinetic Abilities (manifestation of force or matter manipulation at a distance)Illusionary Abilities (manifestation of tactile, auditory, and optical illusions)Empathic Sensitivity (ability to detect and influence emotions, heightened situational awareness)Regenerative Healing (accelerated biological recovery with adverse reaction to synthetic treatments)Elemental and Energetic Manipulation (control of elements, energetic forces, and physical matter at a molecular level)Unfettered Perception (heightened sensitivity to sudden actions and perceived supernatural phenomena)

Telekinetic and Illusionary Response Analysis:
During controlled testing conditions within a secured environment (FBI Biotech Lab, Quantico, VA), Subject was consistently exposed to high-stress stimuli to invoke a response from his telekinetic abilities. On multiple occasions, Subject was able to manipulate physical objects up to 4,000 pounds in weight, including solid steel structures and automobiles, with moderate physical strain. Biological stressors appeared to scale with weight class, suggesting that the Subject would struggle with affecting massive and/or physically dense objects. During moments of heightened emotional stress or panic, the subject's telekinetic output was erratic, causing unintended destruction of objects within his environment. Notably, these responses were amplified when Subject's empathic sensing came into play—he inadvertently affected the objects surrounding him in line with the emotional state of nearby individuals during moments of collective cognitive decline or shared severe distress. Similar responses were noted when attempting to provoke illusionary responses from the Subject: the Subject was able to produce perceptions of force, sound, and optical sight with precision, particularly when under the impression of lack of supervision, pointing to the Subject's general reluctance to be monitored or to explore abilities. However, similar erratic output was discovered when the Subject was subjected to moments of cognitive decline or severe distress, implying an important reliance on cognitive function and mental awareness when controlling these abilities.
Psychic Sensitivity and Empathic Testing:
Throughout various controlled psychological evaluations, Subject demonstrated profound empathic sensitivity, able to read emotions with almost preternatural accuracy. These tests involved placing the Subject in scenarios where emotional states of individuals were manipulated through external means. Subject consistently identified emotions such as fear, anger, and anxiety within mere seconds of visual contact, often remarking on subconscious elements of participants’ thoughts without prior knowledge. Furthermore, during tests designed to detect imminent danger, Subject exhibited an instinctual forewarning mechanism. He was able to sense physical threats before they occurred, displaying heightened awareness of surroundings when facing hostile or emotionally volatile environments. The lab has been unable to recreate additional testing to understand how these abilities may interact with similar unnatural stimuli.
Elemental and Energetic Manipulation:
Subject has demonstrated the ability to manipulate energy forces and elements under stress or in combat situations. In several trials involving exposure to intense energy currents (electromagnetic fields, high-voltage stimuli), Subject was able to deflect or dissipate incoming energy. He showed particular proficiency with manipulating thermal energy (creating heat or cold at will), along with generating forceful shockwaves. Testing of these abilities showed that Subject’s control over such forces appeared rudimentary, often leading to uncontrollable bursts, suggesting that his abilities manifest only under extreme duress, or when the subject’s emotional regulation is compromised. However, testing was also hindered by Subject's increasing scrutiny of controlled testing environments. More field data is needed to fully understand the Subject's extent of control over these forces.
Regenerative Healing and Biological Rejection:
The most perplexing aspect of Subject's physiological tests revolves around his regenerative capabilities. Subject’s body heals at a significantly accelerated rate, with impressive recovery from injuries that would prove fatal to ordinary individuals (e.g., deep lacerations, fractured bones, burns). However, this healing comes at a cost: Subject exhibits significant rejection to synthetic treatments, including antibiotics, painkillers, and other modern pharmaceuticals. The rejection manifests as flu-like symptoms, intense fevers, shortness of breath, and delirium—all indicative of his immune system’s extreme aversion to man-made medical interventions. Natural remedies or untreated injuries seem to yield less drastic side effects, but recovery is still slow, and permanent scarring often occurs.
Additional Biological Response Analysis:
During all testing, Subject displayed a unique biological response to using or activating abilities. When the Subject is suspected of using observed abilities, the Subject has been reported as having a unique bioluminescent response channeled through the optics. It is reported that the Subject often experiences changes to iris color, as well as the perceived movement of some illuminated energetic force within the eye when it occurs, often taking an amber-gold color, though sometimes shifting to other hues. It is unclear if this response is limited to ability activation, as the Subject has been reported to show a change in eye color without any obvious phenomena occurring. However, there is no other biological explanation for the change. Further analysis is required to determine source and effect.

Operational Alias

anastos / additional information available here

The surname ANASTOS has been used intermittently by the Subject during both professional and civilian activities.Unlike standard aliases assigned by supervisory personnel, ANASTOS appears to be a name the Subject has independently selected on multiple occasions.Documented uses include:• undercover assignments
• pseudonymous investigative writing
• non-government investigative work
• civilian identity shielding in environments where federal affiliation would present risk
The name originates from the maiden surname of the Subject’s mother, ELENA ANASTOS, a Russian-Greek immigrant who relocated to the United States in 1970.The Subject was originally registered at birth as:ARSENY ANASTOS BRAHMbefore the family’s legal name restructuring.Linguistic review indicates the surname ANASTOS likely derives from Greek root structures associated with anastasis, commonly translated as rising again or resurrection.Given the maternal Greek lineage associated with the name, this origin is considered plausible.

Alternative Given Name

arseny

The name ARSENY appears in early childhood documentation as the Subject’s original given name. The designation appears rarely in adult records and is not associated with known operational use.Instances of the name appearing in recent documentation are typically limited to:• historical record references
• informal verbal exchanges recorded during interviews
• occasional self-identification in non-official contexts
The name is therefore categorized as a historical identity marker rather than an operational alias.

Identity Structure Summary

Review of documentation suggests the following identity distinctions appear across records:AGENT BRANHAM — professional designation used during active Bureau service
SUBJECT M1 — classification used within containment and research documentation
BRANHAM — legal civilian identity
ANASTOS — recurring alias used in operational or pseudonymous contexts
ARSENY — original birth name appearing primarily in historical records
These designations correspond to different institutional contexts in which the individual has been documented.

Conclusion

The Subject demonstrates the use of multiple identity designations across different operational and administrative environments. While this pattern is not uncommon among intelligence personnel with extended field experience, the Subject’s repeated selection of the surname ANASTOS as an alias has been noted due to its consistency across unrelated activities. No operational risk associated with this alias usage has been identified at this time.Monitoring of identity usage is recommended in future documentation associated with case #00–0000–M1.

and so your essence was wielded in unwilling hands.CRACKED where lightning breaks the skin, you are GILDED underneath mortal soot and rubble. broken into transparent layers, fading opacity between shards of glass where fire melts and molds your form. what will you become ??SOUL BOUND, power devours your core, consuming all that is flesh and bone. your spirit becomes material and your skin ethereal, trading touch for sensation, tongue for response. you are complacent to its invasion, a parasite you cannot remove. it eats you and you rejoice !! it leaves you and you wallow in misery !! suffering, caught between the flames of the SUN and darkness of the UNIVERSE. it swallows you whole. how will it serve you ?? or will you fall to its service, unwittingly, unaware. hapless, you let its oceans drown your beating heart, the thrumming of life in darkness, night in day. BLACK HOLE—consuming soul—draws the world into the greed and avarice of your own bloodied, tear-stained hands.

you are a manifestation of your soul.

your soul is the seed hidden in marrow and the fire coiled beneath the ribs. you do not allow yourself to dissolve in silence. life or not, your last breath is yours to carry. and you are your own truest form—scripture, in light, in language, in eternity. your vessel and your being are one in the same: mirror and ledger, reflection and recorder, every material act in an immaterial tongue.what do you look like ?? a shimmer of starlight caught on the stillness of water. an echo of a hymn sung by no throat. to command your soul entirely, completely, and incomprehensibly is to press that invisible flame against the fabric of the world. illusions bloom like flowers in winter. stones move as though they remember the touch of creation. the body becomes clay, and the soul becomes the hand that shapes it. you listen for the world you live in and it listens back. you ask for intimate mercies and it receives and complies with a tenderness of mother and son, brother and sister. you fold yourself into the universe and the universe remembers your shape as if you had created it all along. birthed of and in, from and for, all the while holding creation like an invention of your own.yet no soul exists alone. each is a drop in a vast ocean, stirred into ripples when another passes—a tide surged and receding against the shore of others. one ripple becomes empathy, another perception, and another the terrible insight that comes when two spirits touch and recognize one another’s wounds. you live in the moments where tides meet, when unseen currents collide and reveal truths long hidden.flesh and spirit are two faces of the same coin. you move the immaterial because you are already threaded through its music, and when you bend it, it is willing and complacent, like a river answering its own source. and as still as you can become, your soul is never still, never caged in silence. each other leaves impressions in your sand, sigils in your sediment that fossilize in your being, a gentle and intimate thing involuntarily left behind. you are the star and the constellation and the space that holds each atom of creation within every touch and grief and joy you have coveted. you are living, endlessly rewritten, and burning with the breadth of everything you have ever dared to love.

you are...

shell-shocked. i am created through a raging war. bespoke through harmful hands, i bleed. i am carried from man to man. my soul trembles in this life-bearing form. unknowingly, i meet mom and dad. i am caressed, but not cherished. ‘ this blood is not mine, ’ she wheezes. it is not. i have come from both heaven and hell - in waves, i cry and cradle the body that has allowed me to breathe.i feel tainted. the sea could not wash me away. he says the devil lives in me, but i harness no sin in these sailing arms. my boat still sinks, slowly, toward an abysmal darkness. what has become of me ? is the blood i bathe in not enough ? the urge is dire. eternity is on my lips. a sweetened life of surrender, as the winds beneath my sails lift me off the reddened waters. they do not know that i understand the whispers they share as they rock me, gently into a deep slumber. i am not the man i was supposed to be, for humanity is not in my skin.could they not rock me any softer ? like an ocean’s arm reaching tenderly. her embrace is warm when my head is thrust to dry land, yet below she is cold, and deeper, she freezes. a pressuring silence. the never-ending drift. an ocean’s love bares all. from thrashes on the skin to filling in the lungs. i am lost in a moment of forgiveness. they think that the land’s will has tainted me and only salt can fix my soul. how thoughtful, and thoughtless still.unaccepted. restlessness wakes my soul. i am thrashed about. the waters shriek, my boat shaking, my body breaking apart, plank by plank. i did not wish to sail this way, into the wrathful storms. i did not wish to be born. yet life has chosen its vessel and it is here, aching. wailing. in waters pleasant and not. and in my blood, i awaken. in this tsunami, i rise. where ashes soak into sand, i am received. and my eyes forsake me, for in all the peace i believe, i am greeted by the sunken sails of mercy, where, wrapped in tears, my boat begins its staggering descent. and i drown.

( HE  IS   FRAIL ) in the light of uncertainties, a troublesome thing held together by naive kindness, fabricated by fraying strings sewn by shaking hands. as a youth, he was timid, trembling under parental wrath. and they were DEVOUT SINNERSa plague — for when he spoke of    stars / universes    and power beyond control, they set their lashes onto him, carved words like stone on marble flesh, crucified by the judgement of false gods. such violence drove him to quiet, finding peace in isolation. but    mana / soul    could not be so easily tamed. he was bound by curiosity, the temptation of unknowns, and kindness, calling to the needy. his hands found others when others ran, and swam across hostile shores to ease pains beyond his own. he could not help his nature !! his parents knew that well. yet in their dying breath ( in what false ACCIDENT !! such claimed in death. he will shriek to the heavens where no one will hear ), they blamed their suffering on his unruly being ; an existence that should not exist at all.                                     forsaken / abandoned.he found solace in a passion for dependency. if people could depend on him to be better, stronger, more normal in the eyes of otherworldliness, perhaps he could feel needed ( not worthless in the way worthlessness was CARVED into flesh ; golden cracks on splintered stone ). he carried himself through his younger years hiding amongst the masses, fearing his own hand and the instability that saw eyes fill with glitter and gold seep from falling tears. though he was brilliant, carving wings from wood and rock and fastening them onto broadened shoulders, he was not fulfilled. if he could be needed, useful, and save and protect and honor — he would fly to the sun, he told himself. he would fly to the sun for the world that wanted him not.                                                                                                          lost / kindness.the law was easy to wield under his tentative grasp, softening the edges of authority, and he enjoyed it. for once, there was community in his life, a void filled with fake smiles and thoughtless gratitude. the line of duty becomes him !! drowning in the shadow of familiarity ( such badge and honor once bestowed on father ) until the eyes of grander agency found him. a more curious entity than himself, an institutional greed, under the gaze of the government's most cunning. he was pulled in with a false sense of obligation, seeking retribution for no wrongdoing. and using his ignorance, they tried to craft his DESTINY with their own hands.                                                                                                                                                                    control / constraint.at the federal level, he was molded under handpicked responsibility, weathered by shocking truths that lay under the belly of his home. a shadow, he slipped between realities, found skill in conquering hidden truths. to uncover monsters under beds, beasts that wore the faces of mothers and sons, sharpening teeth with floss made of marrow.   humane / inhumane   still. though, in the darkness, many shapes jutted through the abyssal waves. some things were BEYOND NORMALITY and perhaps that was why he was sought ?? both to tackle the unknowns and to become them, while unwound by the hands of those who used him. and unraveled did he become under watchful eye, criticized and questioned for the mysteries that pulled on the details of his life. you disappeared again, why were you running away ?? what happened to your gaze ?? it is gilded under subtle bruising. do you feel pain ; have you become it ?? please, i do not understand !! are you a monster or a man ?? he did not want to be seen but he could not help his FOOLISH SELFLESS NATURE which branded him under flame and crucified him on the pyre of his good deeds. he was a puppet on taut string who folded under too much pressure, like brittle cedar: strong in face alone but fragile when whittled down and fragrant when burned. the world would command his obedience, the law and its people his charge, and he would obey with unwavering certainty for his life held no meaning otherwise. oh to serve and be of service !! despite the lack of preservation, the lack of sure identity under badge and gun and powers unexplainable, used only when forced to save life time and time again. perhaps he was set up from the start, the moment altruism became burdening and helping overcame reason. he dug into secrets beyond his authority, followed danger when danger called ( case after case after case ). the world and its evil admonished him — he was made to suffer, to be cast to hellion's gate !! thrown into the arms of the enemy ( terror !! but who were they, the criminals of the night, wolves praying on sheep and he was sheepish ). kidnapped, held prisoner by unsavory hands, silence was his only reprieve: no one would come while he was locked in his dirty cell, hidden until, under the weight of the universe he would finally break.                                     atlas / icarus.he was CATACLYSMIC, a tsunami on dry land, a hurricane over salted seas, skin quaking as the ground splintered underneath him. destruction and creation, hand in hand, as the gods intended. their bodies were torn asunder, blood like rain upon snow-colored skin, for he could not contain himself under pressure, pressure, pressure and he would break like glass, in shards that caught breath short, and hands that created life would also find death heavy in tow.though he was rescued in the rubble of such aftermath, he would never recover.                                                                                                          broken / still.he left the job that brought death upon him, such fulfillment sullied by unwanted carnage. he ran from the world, hidden under layers of lies, grimes of soot. yet always bearing weight, weight, weight. even in hiding, soft nature could not be easily quenched, and so he filled the thirst with mindlessness ( help the needy, feed the poor ). doing what he does best, he guesses, hurting under the guise of inquiry, purporting his own worth to the world one act of good at a time. an investigator of sorts, he chose — and it makes him laugh: purpose gone. soul in shambles, splintering rampant under thin skin. what is he searching for in the sleeplessness ?? reckless and alone. what is he trying to find if not himself in these wading waters, tinted pink with ichor, its shores crystallized fulgurite where his golden lightning strikes, cackling, pulsating, unchecked, violent and yearning and loud:                                               body a husk for power / mind a shell for other.

main verse: kill me gently
#( main / v. kill me gently )genre: urban fantasy, modern, crime.

this verse occurs in the present day, following the events outlined in his case file. after an early retirement from the federal bureau of investigation, arthur branham works publicly as an independent private investigator and federal consultant, taking odd jobs across the country and throwing himself into a quiet dedication to helping others. privately, he remains under classified contract with the bureau as a field operations specialist and special projects advisor—a limited clearance arrangement negotiated between himself and cirg assistant director punitt to protect them both from the fallout of the long lake incident. the deal allows him to return to fieldwork under strict supervision, providing expertise to federal cases while remaining under the bureau’s watchful eye. though they call it collaboration, arthur knows better. he works their cases by day and hunts their secrets by night, determined to uncover what they are still using him for—and what, exactly, they want him to become.

❛ they abandoned him, but not before taking everything they could. when the bureau closed his file, arthur built a new life from the scraps—odd jobs, long drives, strangers in need. it worked, for a while. he learned to breathe again between cases, to pretend the quiet meant peace. then came the contract. cirg called it collaboration; he called it consequence. now he works under the radar—private investigator on paper, classified consultant in practice—taking cases the bureau can’t name out loud. matt pretends it’s protection. arthur pretends it’s freedom. somewhere between those two lies the truth: he’s still a man being watched, still a weapon being measured, still chasing ghosts through the wreckage of what they made of him. HE TELLS HIMSELF IT'S JUST WORK. IT NEVER IS.

main verse: special agent
#( main / v. special agent )genre: urban fantasy, modern, crime.

❛ before the fall, he was still what they called good. steady hands, quiet eyes, the kind of agent who stayed behind to make sure the lights went out. the truth was smaller than that—just a man too used to staying late, too used to giving every hour he had to a country that never looked back. he believed in the work—believed that duty meant purpose, that loyalty was the same thing as faith. the bureau gave him ghosts to chase and he called it living. every mission ran him thinner, every silence felt like prayer. but faith can turn to blindness when no one tells you to stop looking. and somewhere between duty and devotion, he told himself it was worth it—that every case closed meant someone else got to sleep a little easier. IT TOOK YEARS TO REALIZE HE'D FORGOTTEN HOW TO SLEEP AT ALL.

this verse occurs prior to the long lake incident and the subsequent retirement that follows. arthur is still a special agent for the federal bureau of investigation, assigned to either: the counterintelligence division (early years, pre-case file) under ad maya ford and ssa daniel gabor, or the critical incident response group (later years, case file underway) under ad matt punitt and ssa marius barrett. known for his insight and unshakable calm, he handles the cases others can’t—operations that blur the line between the criminal and the unexplainable. behind closed doors, his precision becomes the bureau’s obsession. under the guise of national security, the upper brass builds his case file and lab reports piece by piece, testing the reach of his abilities while arthur keeps his head down and calls it duty. the work is good. the people are good. it’s the reason that isn’t.

nobility verse: knyaz, the prince of velgorod
#( knyaz / v. prince of velgorod )genre: medieval fantasy, some historical elements.

the war-scarred borderland of velgorod stands fractured. hemmed in by the expansionist ambitions of the polish crown, pagan raiders from the north, and rising unrest within, the once-tolerant realm is no longer safe—from outsiders, or from itself. after years of war, king ilya velbrahm makes a final bid for peace in a desperate alliance with the holy orthodoxy. with the help of the church, they are able to stave off oncoming attacks from neighboring rivals, though the support is not without a price.with the church's soldiers come its priests—and its doctrine. while velgorod's armies bleed on the borders, the orthodoxy turns its focus inward, launching a quiet but relentless spiritual purge aimed at rooting out anything it deems unnatural: forbidden beliefs, unorthodox traditions—and those born with unexplained gifts.and at the heart of their growing suspicions stands one mounting threat: crown prince arthur velbrahm.a tempered but defined presence in the royal court, arthur has long held himself apart from the spectacle of power. exiled young to the heat of battle, he grew his strength through the share of blood and mercy. upon his sudden return, a man known far and wide across the fields but not within his own halls, he faces the cruelty of a home who never wanted him and a state who calls his power frivolous.

yet those who know him—or whisper of him—understand the truth: for whatever cost it may carry, he is not ordinary. no noble scum who feeds eyes before hands, and no harsh murderer who tastes blood before suffering. he possesses abilities few understand, wrapped in miracles scoffed as myth and feared as rumor, and carries the responsibility of his crown with unshaken shoulders. at its heart, his magic does not come from old gods or sacred rites, but from within, from the very soul of who he is. and that, to the church, is the gravest heresy of all: a force beyond their doctrine, beyond their control.now, branded a silent threat and a public demon, arthur remains within court—not in rebellion, but in resistance. he plays the political game with care, concealing his motives while working to protect his people from within the same system trying to suppress them. war raging, the ache of a commander away from charge in his bones, he keeps his defiance quiet and his power near. enough restraint to build the trust he needs for as far as he has to go. and as the church seeks to consolidate its hold over velgorod, arthur must walk the thin line between obedience and integrity, invisibility and influence, to ensure his country survives—both church and war—and still belongs to its people when the dust settles.

let them search for gods and devils. my strength is my own. that is what they truly fear.

knight verse: bogatyr, the furtive flame
#( bogatyr / v. the furtive flame )genre: medieval fantasy, some historical elements.

arthur anastos was taken in by the duke of velgorod after the fall of his homeland—an invasion minor in scale, but one that scarred the entire river-valley in unspeakable flames. sword in hand, he was young, wounded, and silent. the duke gave him sanctuary. in time, arthur gave the duke his sword.years since, and arthur now rides beneath the duke's banner as one of his most gifted knights. his dedication and discipline are unquestioned, but his merit is marred by speculation. he speaks little of his past, and even less of the homeland that no longer exists. the lords of court whisper behind closed doors: about his foreign blood, his noble bearing, and the unspoken reason for his rapid rise through the ranks. some call him a war orphan. others say he was a noble heir smuggled out by night. no one agrees on the truth.arthur does not correct them.

but what is most unsettling to those who serve beside him is not his silence—it is the rumors of what he can do.they say that the elements yield to his command, born not of nature, but from his own two hands. that he can speak in tongues that imbue his sword with power. that he once shattered a siege gate with nothing but a stare. the duke’s inner circle does not deny the claims—but neither do they confirm them. his abilities are a state secret, folded into the quiet machinery of military strategy. in public, he is simply a knight. in private, he is something far more valuable.he serves now under solemn oath, sworn to a cause he does not speak aloud. not out of fear, but because the duke gave him something no army could reclaim: a home. and in return, arthur has dedicated every ounce of strength—sword, soul, and silence—to its protection.

a sword is loyal to the hand that holds it — i just make sure the hand is worthy.

this au can be adapted toward your muse's background. the role of duke, or master, and any figure of the inner courts, is flexible. the country he is serving can be adapted to fit your muse's role, whether that be of a comrade or an enemy. by default, the setting is loosely based on velgorod as described in the knyaz verse.

court verse: volkhv, the court mage
#( volkhv / v. the court mage )genre: medieval fantasy, some historical elements.

arthur anastos appeared in velgorod not long after the polish invasion at greycliff. foreign in dress and tongue, he was first seen on the battlefield, lingering by the wreckage of the king's envoy. some say he commanded the elements against the enemy to stave off the onslaught. others whisper he spoke in tongues, hexing the polish commander and forcing their squadrons to retreat. the truth, as ever, was quickly buried under rumor.what is known is this: the king survived, his best men and commander alive, and arthur was invited behind the palace gates not as a prisoner, but as a guest. within weeks, he was officially named court mage—a title not heard in generations.he wears no sigil. he bears no known lineage. he claims to come from a kingdom “far to the east,” though no ambassador recalls receiving him. he is not young, nor old, not cruel, nor warm. he speaks with calm deliberation, appears where he is not expected, and leaves no trace of his passing.

those who serve the court say his shadow moves too slowly, and that he often speaks to people who are not there. his role is never clearly defined, yet his presence is unmistakable. when a child is born with withered flesh, it is arthur they summon. when the duke's dreams go black with blood, it is arthur who listens, then wordlessly extinguishes the hearth. he advises the royal family in matters of health, war, and dreams. some lords now openly call him a spirit-binder or arcane manipulator. others believe he has bewitched the throne entirely.what cannot be denied is his loyalty: when questioned, he simply states that he has sworn his service to the duke’s cause, and that his magic is bound by oath, “no different than the knight’s blade.” still, there are those who look at him and see not an ally—but a harbinger.he walks the corridors in silence. he does not eat with the court. he does not kneel before the altar. and yet, the kingdom still stands.

magic is not what the fearful believe it is. it is not evil. it is not good. it is the shape of will—when the world tries to say no.

this au can be adapted toward your muse's background. the role of duke, or master, and any figure of the inner courts, is flexible. the country he is serving can be adapted to fit your muse's role, whether that be of a comrade or an enemy. by default, the setting is loosely based on velgorod as described in the knyaz verse.

slayer verse: ubiytsa, the mark of the king
#( ubiytsa / v. the sanguine slayer of anastos )genre: medieval high fantasy, some historical elements.

blood is memorable—how it sticks and smells and spills. he is careful not to show it unless needed. but those who do witness his blood tend to remember things about it that carry on long after he has left: the deep red texture across pale skin, beneath eyes of pure gold, swirling in and out of grasp. it spills with purpose, morphing into a weapon that is said to kill gods. a crimson, star-speckled sea, hardened to a life-ending blade with gruesome, heretical magic. thus is the sign of the bloodwrought—the sanguine slayer of anastos, who vanquishes immortal demons with mortal blood.arthur anastos was once a slayer among slayers, coming from a lineage of hunters famed not for loyalty to crown or creed, but for their singular purpose: to track and destroy beings that passed between worlds. spirits. false gods. immortals. it was a hard and dangerous line of work, one often thankless and difficult. but the slayers took pride in their ability to protect others from the malice of beings beyond them. their blood bore the power to end things that far surpassed the strength of mortal means. yet, as inevitabilities would have it, not all gods could be so easily killed.at some point, their work would catch up to them. one by one, the slayers of anastos would fall to a being too powerful to vanquish. the undying king, a godless revenant who sustains his immortality by feasting on the living essence of others, became such being.by the time the order was disbanded, only a young arthur and his parents remained. unable to figure out a way to permanently kill the king, they became desperate. in order to seal the king's insatiable hunger, arthur's parents used their blood magic to perform the strongest binding they could—one that bound such hunger to their very souls, trapping the king in an endless cycle. he would be forced to hunt them, and only them, in order to maintain his immortality, and they would remain cursed to his hunger, endless and undying as he until they found a way to kill him or he found a way to consume their souls.

for a short time, this seemed to work well. running from the clutches of the king, the family traveled the world to look for a way to kill him for good and free themselves from their own curse. arthur grew up learning many types of magics, honing his skills with the hopes of finally ridding the world of the evil king. he became well-versed in monster slaying, learning and studying different ways to banish and kill beasts and gods, and his parents encouraged him to expand his power and reach. they put their faith in him, knowing well that he would be able to harness his own powers in ways they couldn't dream of. and they did their best to buy him enough time to do that.they lived for years on the run, the king weakening with each failed attempt to reach them. but it wouldn't last forever.one day, the king would raise his hand upon them and arthur would be faced with a difficult choice. the hour was dire, the family cornered by their enemy, and there was only one way to stop the king from regaining the strength he had lost from chasing them down. the family agreed: arthur would live on to continue his duty, take this curse for himself, and find a way to destroy this king, and his parents would sacrifice their souls to starve the king out, buying time with their binding vows to let arthur escape. in this ritual, arthur would be forced to destroy the souls of his loved ones, and though the king would be denied his feast this day, two more precious things would be lost to his clutches.now, time drags its teeth through his bones. alone, arthur bears the undying mark with each falling breath, keeping the undying king famished but never far. he slays horrors when he must, helps strangers when he can, and turns his blood inward in desperate study—seeking the means to end the curse before it ends him. and if no such means exists, then so be it—he will make his death a cage the king cannot escape.

if the curse breaks me, let it. but i will not let it pass to another.

❛ orphic tradition preludes you, yet still you are FORGOTTEN !! a relic to the very universes crafted by your trembling hands. each crack of chronos' shell instills you with the cosmos, both birthed and married in the fabled night, and though you have casted love upon your creations, you are abandoned. parent to all and none !! PHANES, you are but a whisper of the primordial, oft confused for one or other, a significance now drowning far beyond your unbridled gift of life. you were the CATALYST: the world built upon your corpse, sacrificed as a martyr to the glory of the future. oh son of fate and daughter of time !! you are the reason for all beginning and ending and yet you are left to die a memory, a dimming light in the eyes of ambitious family. in your silence, you escape into the abyssos yet again, sink into quiet night. at least you have the orphic prayer in your dreams as you slumber, only to be awoken when unageing destiny rattles your souls once more. ❜

debrief

A classified anomaly turned reluctant savior, the man called SAINT exists between agencies and eras—too human to be weapon, too altered to be free. Once a field officer and medic, now the centerpiece of Project Aether, he moves along the fault lines of a system that cannot decide whether he is evidence, asset, or liability. Wherever infection breaks containment, he follows: the quiet figure in the hazmat convoy, the last light inside the quarantine zone. His power is not viral but volitional, drawn from empathy and will—a gold fire that answers to mercy rather than science. Governments name him property, soldiers call him miracle, civilians remember only warmth and the sound of calm in the ruins. To the institutions that deploy him, he is a solution to a problem they barely understand. To the people he pulls from the fire, he is simply the man who stayed. If he arrives, it means the outbreak is already lost ; if he leaves, it means someone still survived.

Before the outbreak, before the call sign and the codename, Arthur Branham was still what the world called ordinary. A young officer with steady hands and quiet eyes, dividing his life between university lectures and night patrols at the Durham precinct. The work was simple until it wasn’t—until a joint op with the FBI went wrong and the air burned strange. Later reports would describe the site as a precursor laboratory tied to illicit bioterror research, though none of the officers breaching the building that night had been told that. The team saw a man collapse, vials shatter, a ruptured tank venting heat and chemical burns. Arthur saw a wall of heat buckle toward them and, without thinking, reached out. The fire folded back on itself, the pressure holding fast like a held breath. When it cleared, the others were gone. Only he remained.United States Strategic Command arrived before the coroner. They spoke in terms of containment and confidentiality, not condolences. Jurisdiction shifted quickly—federal investigators overlapping military authority, contractors appearing before the scene was even finished being catalogued. Within the month, Arthur Branham was gone from the Durham rolls, folded into a black program that studied him instead of saving him. They called it Project Aether, and they built the research around the anomaly that was him.He learned the science of obedience—the right pulse rate for surveillance, the right tone for interviews, the stillness required when people far more powerful than him decided what he was allowed to be. Missions blurred into each other: one infection, one false alarm, one city half-burned before dawn. They sent him wherever the virus spread faster than policy, and wherever the paperwork afterward needed someone quiet enough to survive it. BSAA. CDC. Later, the DSO. The FBI kept a quieter claim over him stateside, folding him into investigations where bioterror response overlapped with contractor fraud, illegal biotech research, sealed evidence, and missing witnesses. It didn’t take long for Arthur to notice something strange. The same companies rebuilding laboratories after different outbreaks. The same contractors appearing in procurement chains across continents. The same reports changing shape depending on which office wrote them.He sterilized what was left, gave statements no one would keep whole, and disappeared before the press arrived. The agencies passed him back and forth like a rumor, a borrowed saint whose light was too useful to release.None of them ever seemed to realize they were sending him to the same places. The outbreaks never made sense to him. Not the timing. Not the way response teams arrived too late or too early. Not the way evidence disappeared between offices that were supposed to be working together. Arthur began keeping notes of his own. Not about the infected—about the people who responded to them.Somewhere between the briefings and the blackouts, he stopped believing the system would ever contain anything. He started believing in people—the nurses who stayed, the soldiers who hesitated, the strangers who still ran back for strangers. They were proof that something human survived the fire. They were the reason he still answered the call. And sometimes they were the only reason he stayed. They say he glows when the world ends. That his eyes go gold before the blast. That the air holds still when he breathes. Some swear he walks the dead out of burning zones. Others insist he’s already one of them. But those who have seen him know better. He’s not a weapon, and he’s not a miracle. He’s a man trapped inside a system that keeps breaking the world—and choosing, every day, to be kinder than the one that made him.

1982.
Arthur Jimmy Branham is born March 20th in Sedona, Arizona under the name Arseny Anastos Brahm at Sedona Medical Center. Parents: Elena Branham and Jim Branham, both Russian immigrants.
1983.
Mrs. Branham begins employment at Sedona Medical Center. Records indicate increased presence of Svetraba, an extremist parachurch organization tied to persecuted Russian Orthodox immigrant communities. Additional investigation suggests Mrs. Branham was an active member who used her medical role to recruit vulnerable individuals. A minor medical negligence inquiry is recorded but produces no formal charges.
1984—1986.
Multiple persons of interest linked to Russian bratvas with suspected Moscow ties are documented visiting Sedona. The Branham family relocates to Long Lake, New York in 1986. Mr. Branham files a petition to naturalize the family name, replacing original Russian identities with Americanized aliases.
1987—1988.
Mrs. Branham begins work at Long Lake Hospital and is suspected of continuing Svetraba activity. During the same period Mr. Branham pursues a career with the New York State Police and is sworn in January 1988. In March of the same year, the Branham family is referenced in a police report regarding the drowning death of Emmett Carey at Long Lake State Park. The body is discovered several miles downstream by six-year-old Arthur. Counseling services are offered but declined.
1992.
Child Protective Services investigates the Branham household after reports of unexplained injuries on Arthur. Multiple bruises and stitches are documented; the case is closed with no further action.
1998.
Racoon City Incident. The destruction of Raccoon City following the Umbrella outbreak becomes one of the most significant failures in modern biohazard containment. Later internal training materials for federal response agencies repeatedly reference the event as a case study in jurisdictional collapse, corporate interference, and evidence suppression.
1999—2004
May 1999, Arthur graduates from Long Lake High School and is accepted to Duke University. On July 29, a house fire caused by a leaking gas pipe destroys the Branham residence. Elena and Jim Branham are killed. Arthur is the sole survivor. In October, Arthur begins studies at Duke University while living in campus housing. Shortly after, he completes requirements to join the Durham Police Department while finishing his degree. In Spring 2004, he graduates from Duke with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and B.A. in International Law, also earning EMT and state paramedic certifications. He begins full-time service with DPD.
LATE 2004.
Los Iluminados Incident. Intelligence briefings concerning the parasite-based bioterror activity in rural Spain circulate quietly through federal counterterror and intelligence agencies. Subsequent reports describing the Las Plagas organism draw increased attention to the possibility of non-viral biological weapons.
2005.
Acquisition Incident. Under United States Strategic Command oversight, a DPD / Federal Bureau of Investigation joint operation leads to a nighttime raid on suspected illicit mutagen laboratory. A containment failure triggers alarms and a thermal surge inside the structure. Witnesses describe a sudden pressure reversal, with flame collapsing inward rather than expanding. Four officers and two federal agents are critically injured. Arthur is later determined to be the origin of pressure reversal phenomenon. FBI retains jurisdiction as domestic investigative cover while USSTRATCOM initiates anomaly review and containment planning. Arthur is required to accept transition to authorized special agent status under coercive confidentiality terms. C-ID #00–0000–M1 is created for FBI-side testing, incident continuity, and domestic investigative claim, while parallel federal review begins under early Aether authority. Arthur is designated Subject M1 thereafter. This designation is later linked to various domestic activity, starting a few months after acquisition with support documentation surrounding the Harvardville Incident.
2006—2008.
Subject M1 is tested for response, control, and recall parameters through domestic criminal cases, quiet federal investigations, and bioterrorist incidents. Preliminary findings for C-ID #00–0000–M1 and L-ID #M1-0000-0210 are intercepted during intelligence operations targeting bioterror organizations and compromised domestic field offices. Concern over the leaked documentation grows. Early domestic taskings increasingly place Subject M1 at the edges of sanitization efforts—missing evidence, falsified cause-of-death findings, contractor irregularities, and federal offices whose official reports do not match survivor testimony. This period marks the beginning of his private suspicion that the outbreaks are being managed—including the stories told about them. Under bureaucratic pressure and coercion tactics, Subject M1 participates in joint programming between FBI and USSTRATCOM. Project Aether is created to further capitalize on Subject M1's unique abilities for state interests and to support the narrative of complete control over anomalous biohazard phenomenon. Initially an intelligence operative, Subject M1 transitions into field combat operations as Project Aether expands. USSTRATCOM takes full authority over the project in late 2007. Subject M1 undergoes extensive compatibility review for potential deployment alongside other agencies. In 2008, the Project Aether Inter-Agency Loan Program is established. Subject M1 is deployed under Mobile Containment Specialist / Field Consultant designation with joint Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance teams during the Kijuju Autonomous Zone Incident. Field reports indicate Subject M1 operated primarily on perimeter evacuation corridors and stabilization of civilian extraction zones rather than direct combat operations, though witness statements vary.
2009.
Intelligence exposure of Tricell pharmaceutical activity following the Kijuju events generates renewed scrutiny of private biotech corporations operating within federal procurement chains. Several subcontractors appearing in post-incident containment operations are later found to have indirect financial ties to Tricell subsidiaries. Subject M1 submits reporting on the topic based on firsthand findings and personal concerns. The reports are later archived under classified review.
2010—2012.
The initial success of Project Aether generates significant inter-agency demand. Subject M1 is reclassified as Asset #S-01 “SAINT.” Asset S-01 is deployed across multiple containment and stabilization operations through loan agreements involving BSAA, CDC Biohazard Response, and later DSO liaison assignments. Several deployments occur adjacent to emerging biohazard crises connected to the global spread of Plaga variants and other B.O.W. activity. On paper, S-01 is tasked with evacuation corridor stabilization, structural containment, and post-incident hazard sterilization rather than direct engagement with primary bio-organic threats. In practice, field data is used to promote containment responses which encourage the militarization of S-01.
2012—2013.
Global instability surrounding the Tall Oaks Incident and Lanshiang Bioterror Events leads to increased federal reliance on cross-agency containment assets. Asset S-01 operates on the periphery of these crises in infrastructure stabilization and evacuation support roles. Post-incident internal reviews expose multiple contractor overlaps between federal biohazard response programs and private biotechnology firms operating through shell subsidiaries. Several investigative notes authored under C-ID #00–0000–M1 are later removed from mirrored Aether archives.
2014—2016.
Project Aether undergoes administrative restructuring amid growing political sensitivity surrounding federal bioterror response programs. Asset S-01’s deployments increasingly involve sites where containment failures intersect with federal contractors, pharmaceutical research groups, and humanitarian organizations. S-01 begins privately documenting recurring overlaps between response agencies, relief organizations, and biotech firms connected to previous outbreak investigations. Multiple entries referencing these patterns are later marked REDACTED within the official archive.
2017—Present
Asset S-01 remains operationally indispensable but politically complicated. Project Aether continues attempts to replicate the Asset's anomaly with no success. As demand for containment specialists grows, S-01 becomes the default solution for crises that other agencies cannot resolve. S-01's cooperation remains consistent during civilian-priority operations but increasingly strained in cases involving administrative irregularities or altered reporting. While USSTRATCOM retains ownership of S-01’s deployments, the FBI continues exercising its domestic investigative claim through C-ID #00–0000–M1, utilizing the Asset in cases involving compromised response chains, missing evidence, contractor fraud, and suspected corruption tied to federal biohazard containment programs. Internal memoranda describe the file as an “open wound” in the record. S-01's private notes from this period increasingly suggest a single working theory: The outbreaks may be unpredictable. But the systems that respond to them are not.

  light doesn’t save people.
it just lets you see them better before you decide who you want to be.

you are a student before you are a soldier, a medic before you are a miracle. the world has not ended yet, but it is learning how. you study law because you believe in order, join the police because you believe in people, and hold to both long after belief starts to fracture. when the containment sirens wail for the first time, you are still wearing a badge small enough to disappear in the smoke. the team breaches a laboratory outside durham and the air goes wrong—sweet, metallic, heavy with something that should not breathe. one man falls. then another. the fire moves like a living thing. you reach toward it without thinking, and the world bends around your hands. when the smoke clears, the flame is gone, the room is empty, and you are the only one left standing.

they arrive before the questions do. the agents speak quietly, like men approaching something dangerous but valuable. they call it a “ phenomenon. ” they call you “ subject. ” they call survival an “ opportunity. ” jurisdiction is divided before anyone bothers to call it grief. the reports change shape depending on who writes them. the lab becomes a containment site. the containment site becomes an anomaly review. your name becomes a designation. subject m1. project aether begins in the quiet spaces beneath stratcom where problems are studied instead of solved. you learn quickly that mercy can be quantified, that kindness has clearance levels, that a system can turn a man into infrastructure if it decides he is useful enough.

then the deployments begin. first as observer. then as consultant. then as the thing they send when the reports stop making sense. bsaa. cdc. later the dso. every agency calls you something different, but they all mean the same thing: solution. you move through quarantines and evacuation corridors, through cities that already smell like smoke. sometimes you arrive in time to pull people out. sometimes you arrive in time to close the doors behind them. the civilians remember the warmth of the light. the soldiers remember that you apologize after saving them.

after a while you begin to notice patterns. the same contractors rebuilding laboratories that burned in other countries. the same equipment shipments appearing in different outbreak zones. the same evidence disappearing between offices that claim to be working together. the briefings call it coincidence. the paperwork calls it classification. you start keeping your own notes anyway.

the years pass. the outbreaks grow stranger. the explanations grow thinner. somewhere between the briefings and the blackouts you stop believing the system will ever contain anything. instead you start watching the people inside the fire—the nurses who refuse to leave, the soldiers who hesitate before pulling the trigger, the strangers who still run back for strangers. they remind you why you stayed.

they call you saint now—half prayer, half warning. they say the air bends when you arrive, that the world pauses long enough for one more heartbeat. maybe they are right. maybe you are only the moment between disasters, the breath the world takes before deciding whether to break again. but every time the alarms sound, you remember the only rule that was never written in the reports: someone has to keep noticing. someone has to stay kind. even here.

SUMMARY / ORCON / NOFORN / EYES-AETHER

usstratcom wmd-i project aether (tsmx) classified

This document summarizes the acquisition, classification, and operational employment of SUBJECT AETHER–S01, civilian name ARTHUR JIMMY BRANHAM (DOB 1982-03-20), hereafter “the Subject,” under PROJECT AETHER (AETHER/SAP). The Subject is assigned to the USSTRATCOM WMD-Intelligence Directorate (WMD-I), Special Access Compartment AETHER, with inter-agency loan authorities per standing MOUs to BSAA, CDC Bio-Response, and DSO (post-2011) as operationally required.Access to AETHER materials requires clearance TSMX with read-in to compartment AETHER/ORION. Dissemination is NOFORN without Deputy Commander, STRATCOM, written exception.Classification caveat: All references to “biological,” “viral,” or “parasitic” etiology in legacy drafts are deprecated. Current AETHER consensus: phenomenon is non-viral, non-parasitic, non-recombinant in nature. See Lab Annex M1-0000-AETHER, §4.2.

acquisition history / identity confirmation (narrative abstract)

classified personnel only. narrative abstracts should be considered subjective supplemental documentation. not for dissemination without written exception.

████████identity: branham, arthur jimmy—aka arseny anastos brahm. duke university dual major (cj / intl law), emt/paramedic. sworn dpd officer while enrolled.trigger event—dpd/fbi joint operation (durham periphery, night, light rain): team breaches a one-story light-industrial lab on a tip re: illicit mutagen precursors. the hallway smells sweet, artificial—something between scorched sugar and antiseptic. officers described it as “pleasant at first, then immediately nauseating.” a tech slips; vials shatter; alarms misfire. heat bulges the air toward the team. witnesses report a “pressure reversal” —flame folding back into itself like a hand closing. the flash extinguishes in a clean ring. when smoke clears, four officers are down. the subject is on his knees in the center of the room, hands open, eyes showing amber-gold iris shift before fading. he vomits, then apologizes to no one in particular. body cam clips strobe white; audio captures a single phrase: “don’t move—i can hold it—just breathe.”federal approach: stratcom observer on wmd-i detail arrives before coroner. next steps are discussed with jurisdictional fbi officials. language used: “phenomenon,” “containment anomaly,” “protective custody.” the subject signs a non-disclosure with shaking hands and asks if the men can still be saved. no one answers him directly. fbi compartment label c-id #00-0000-m1 is created for domestic testing. the subject becomes subject m1. fbi and stratcom coordination channel established. fbi compartment will later fold into project aether after stratcom control receives charter seventy-two hours after federal leak complaints. subject m1 becomes asset s-01.note (case officer): he complied without bargaining. not passivity—orientation. he took responsibility for an event we did not understand and treated it as a duty.

service brief / assignment summary

parent command: usstratcom (wmd-i), aether/sap
role: mobile containment specialist / field consultant (multi-department loan)
employment model: “on-loan” asset to partner agencies under standing mou; stratcom retains medical, legal, and technical custody
field names: “asset/subject s-01/m1” (official),
“saint” (prevailing), “ghostlight” (optical/ir signature), “mercy” (slang, pejorative)

Inter-agency loans authorized:

  • BSAA/Global Response Taskforce—humanitarian containment, hot-zone sterilization, and civilian extraction; authorized for deployment in global biothreat theaters (Peru, China).

  • INTERPOL/Europol—transnational interdiction and stabilization under civil-military coordination (Ukraine).

  • UNHCR/WHO Humanitarian Branch—field escort and corridor stabilization in refugee crisis zones (Jordan); authorized for controlled deployment of telekinetic pressure containment in civilian presence.

  • CDC/STRATCOM/FBI Joint Bio-Response—decontamination consultancy, aerosol sterilization, and hazard-modeling support within domestic biocontainment facilities (United States).

  • DSO—special projects, covert containment, and inter-governmental liaison in active theaters.

  • Other—as directed under NSC tasking and Presidential authority; UNSC observers attached as required.

Operational posture:
Subject deploys as unbadged consultant, listed on rosters as “AETHER Advisor,” “S-01,” or “M1.” In practice, field units rarely receive full notice of Subject classification before deployment. Some teams are informed they are receiving a federal adviser. Others are told only that a specialist is inbound. On at least three recorded occasions, separate agencies deployed S-01 under parallel tasking assumptions during the same event window, resulting in post-incident jurisdiction conflict and partial report suppression. Official photographs and biometrics are compartmented; field units receive need-to-know silhouettes and comms call sign SAINT.

Public posture:
None. If asked, deny program existence; acknowledge only “multi-agency cooperation.”

Domestic posture:
When operating within U.S. jurisdiction, Subject may be folded into FBI taskings under C-ID #00–0000–M1 as a restricted consultant on anomalous bioterror overlap, compromised federal response, contractor misconduct, evidence chain failures, and suspected internal corruption. Such taskings are frequently disguised as decontamination review, witness support, contractor audit, evidence continuity support, or containment follow-up. In several cases, Subject S-01 has been inserted into FBI-side review not because the Bureau understands the phenomenon, but because he is the only field variable present in both the incident itself and the contradictions that follow it.

Internal concern — Pattern Recognition Drift: Subject S-01’s repeated cross-agency exposure has produced escalating sensitivity to procurement anomalies, evidence chain discontinuities, and response-timeline contradictions. While this has improved field utility in low-visibility review operations, it has also increased the likelihood that Subject will independently connect compartmented events across agencies, corporate entities, and oversight structures. Continued unrestricted exposure is operationally useful and politically destabilizing.

Field Record (selected summaries):
Full incident abstracts: AETHER-FR/Vol. II–V (TSMX).

  • Harvardville aftercare review (FBI / CDC liaison): Airport-adjacent containment support and post-incident sterilization modeling following the Harvardville outbreak.

Note—Transit Aftercare (FBI / CDC, United States): Under FBI jurisdiction, Subject M1 was attached under restricted consultant status to secondary containment review following the Harvardville Airport Incident and adjacent federal assessment. Official tasking limited him to sterilization modeling, morgue overflow support, and survivor corridor stabilization. Unofficially, Subject flagged discrepancies in contractor response timing and cold-storage routing between federal and private recovery teams. One refrigerated transport manifest was later found duplicated under separate chain-of-custody identifiers. Subject’s original field note was mirrored into C-ID #00–0000–M1 and later resealed.

  • South American hot-zone (BSAA): Secondary Plagas spillover contained; Subject effected aerosol collapse and hot-zone corridor for evac. Nickname “SAINT” originates; civilian survival delta +37%.

Note—First Loan (BSAA, Peru): Local sunrise through particulate haze. Civilians positioned behind agricultural transports; BSAA comms report, “We’re losing the corridor.” Subject M1 advances into the active aerosol plume without respiratory protection. Thermal imaging records a localized temperature increase of +12°C surrounding the Subject. The suspended particulate matter destabilizes, then collapses inward in a rapid pressure draw, clearing a temporary hot-zone corridor for evacuation. Witnesses report Subject momentarily unsteady, one hand braced against a vehicle bed, before audible confirmation: “It’s alright—keep together.” Post-incident analysis attributes a 37% increase in civilian survival rate to the event. The informal callsign “Saint” first appears in BSAA after-action reports circulated within 48 hours.

  • Kijuju perimeter incident (BSAA liason, West Africa): Deployed as external containment consultant during emerging crisis. Subject stabilized evacuation route on the outskirts of the Kijuju Autonomous Zone, allowing BSAA personnel and civilians to clear a collapsing quarantine sector.

Note—Peripheral Containment (BSAA, West Africa): Field observation places Subject M1 operating beyond primary combat theater. Thermal distortion recorded along a roadway barricade as advancing bio-organic threats forced evacuation. Witnesses describe a sudden stilling of air pressure followed by controlled ignition along contaminated debris, forming a narrow sterilized corridor. BSAA transport convoy cleared the perimeter within three minutes. Subject declined direct integration with active strike teams and withdrew following evacuation confirmation.

  • Eastern Europe transit hub (INTERPOL/Europol): T-variant interdiction; Subject stabilized roof truss under active fire; 41 civilians extracted.

Note—Stabilization Mission (INTERPOL/Europol, Ukraine): Structural failure under active fire. Roof truss load compromised; bolts dislodging under heat and vibration. Subject S-01 observed raising one hand—localized suspension of movement recorded for 3.4 seconds. Roof stabilization sufficient for civilian egress through north corridor. One child reportedly asked if he was “an angel.” Subject denied verbally. The structure resumes after the last body clears. Post-event footage shows Subject retching into a utility sink and apologizing to it. Thermal residue lingers along the beams for twenty-two minutes.

  • Eastern Slav corridor break (INTERPOL / DSO observer): Conflict-adjacent anti-B.O.W. movement disruption during armored civilian withdrawal.

Note—Armor Failure Event (Eastern Europe): Subject S-01 was deployed in limited-support capacity during extraction operations involving B.O.W. movement through a collapsing urban transport route. Telemetry suggests short-duration kinetic interruption across multiple advancing hostiles long enough to permit armored civilian transport passage through a blocked avenue. Witnesses describe projectiles stalling mid-flight and debris “hanging wrong” in the air before impact resumed. Subject later presented with severe tremor, epistaxis, and transient visual blur. Official report filed as “localized structural interference.” Unofficial observer comment preserved in liaison copy: “He stopped something heavier than physics should allow.”

  • Middle East relief corridor (UNHCR/WHO): Evacuation line destabilized under extreme heat; pressure differentials threatening collapse of refugee corridor.

Note—Humanitarian Escort (UNHCR/WHO, Jordan): Subject S-01 advanced to the corridor apex amid airborne dust and radiant heat. Applied a controlled overpressure field—air density increased, halting forward surge and stabilizing visibility. Within ten seconds, crowd flow normalized. Subject proceeded to seal a contaminated drainage trench via localized plasma ignition, creating a narrow containment burn measured at 0.6 m width. Operation described by witnesses as “surgical,” minimizing collateral ignition. Subject reported mild disorientation, pulse irregular; hydration provided on-site.

  • Stateside covert (CDC/STRATCOM): Joint air-handling retrofit following aerosolization attempt at federal biocontainment facility; Subject performed thermal line sterilization on intake plenums.

Note—Engineering Dispute (CDC/STRATCOM, Maryland): Dispute in engineering protocol resolved by Subject S-01 entering primary intake corridor unassisted. Palmar thermogenesis observed along filter housings; progressive surface temperature increase achieved full sterilization threshold within eight minutes. Pathogen kill rate verified at > 99.9 %. Subject seated post-procedure, requested “water without medication,” thanked the technician twice. Residual warmth persisted through ducting for forty-five minutes post-contact.

  • Louisiana biocontainment review (federal restricted / Blue Umbrella liaison): Post-incident environmental sterilization and residual field assessment following a mutamycete-class contamination event in rural Louisiana.

Note—Restricted Environmental Pass (United States): Subject S-01 was attached to sealed post-incident review under joint federal and corporate observation. Tasking included infrastructure sterilization, residual air-quality stabilization, and physiological reaction logging in a fungal contamination environment. Blue Umbrella equipment manifests appear in the logistical tail of the deployment despite no formal mention in the primary task packet. One mirrored attachment references a procurement routing node later tagged U-LOGISTICS NODE 07. Subject requested access to contractor manifests; request denied. Follow-up note unavailable.

  • Domestic after-action review (FBI / CDC / STRATCOM): Survivor testimony and evidence chain failure following aerosol event at a federal contractor site in Virginia.

Note—Sanitization Dispute (FBI / CDC / STRATCOM, Virginia): Subject S-01 was attached as containment consultant following a low-visibility aerosol incident linked to a federal subcontractor with prior WMD-I procurement ties. Initial reports attributed exposure to mechanical malfunction; witness statements conflicted. Subject flagged discrepancies between residue patterning, injury distribution, and official sequence of failure. Three evidence containers were later found resealed under mismatched chain-of-custody logs. Incident prompted internal FBI review under C-ID #00–0000–M1. Subject’s post-mission comments were withheld from general circulation at STRATCOM request.

  • Tall Oaks internal support (CDC / DSO / sealed): Secondary medical corridor stabilization and civilian panic regulation during outbreak collapse.

Note—Mass Panic Regulation (United States): Subject S-01 was inserted into a non-public medical corridor after contamination spread exceeded projected civilian handling capacity. Field notes describe rapid panic down-regulation through proximity, tone, and low-level affective dampening while environmental doors, toppled equipment, and debris were held in partial stasis for egress. Civilian movement normalized within approximately ninety seconds. Subject was removed from the site before consolidated federal media posture formed. Associated footage marked unavailable under dual-key authorization. One attending clinician later described the event as “the first time the room remembered how to breathe.”

  • Lanshiang (Global Response Taskforce/BSAA): Multiple civilian extraction failures; Subject re-established containment through high-intensity field discharge.

Note—High-Risk Deployment (Global Response Taskforce/BSAA, China): Surveillance captures high-intensity photonic bloom surrounding Subject S-01 during evacuation of final survivors. Visual distortion consistent with A1/A2 co-activation—debris and particulate suspended for 2.7 seconds before re-settling in sterilized formation. Localized temperature spike (+14 °C) accompanied by total cessation of airborne contaminant mobility. Final frame shows Subject braced against wall, knuckles white, eyes fully gold. Structural collapse follows at T + 00:12. Declared MIA at 0432 local; later reclassified operational under Presidential Waiver ████████.

  • European equipment corridor (BSAA / Blue Umbrella support): Anti-B.O.W. logistics escort with federal observer attachment.

Note—Pre-Arrival Problem: Subject S-01 recorded alongside BSAA personnel during a transport-staging review in which Blue Umbrella logistics assets arrived prior to confirmed strike-team deployment. Subject flagged timeline inconsistency in after-action annotation. Annotation omitted from general circulation. Informal liaison copy preserves a single line: “How do they always get there before the people meant to stop it?”

Classification Irregularity: Due to overlapping domestic, military, and inter-agency authorities, S-01’s status is inconsistently logged across partner systems as asset, consultant, adviser, witness, protected subject, or federal property. Several agencies appear to have accessed or task-listed the Subject under authorities that do not acknowledge one another. Correction attempts remain incomplete.Custodial Discrepancy: Although USSTRATCOM retains primary custody of Asset S-01, the Federal Bureau of Investigation continues to exercise domestic investigative claim through C-ID #00–0000–M1, using the Subject as a restricted consultant in matters involving compromised bioterror response, federal contractor misconduct, anomalous incident overlap, and suspected internal corruption.

acquisition details

  • Civilian identity: BRANHAM, Arthur Jimmy. Aka: Arseny Anastos Brahm (birth), Arthur Anastos, Artie.

  • Education / early service: Duke University (Criminal Justice B.S.; International Law B.A.); EMT/Paramedic certs. Sworn officer, Durham Police Department (DPD), part-time while completing degree; transitioned to full-time (2004) in officer/paramedic functions.

  • Trigger event (DPD/FBI Joint Op): During a joint DPD–FBI operation concerning an illicit chemical lab, a containment failure resulted in a flash event; multiple exposures recorded. Witness statements note “pressure inversion,” subsequent combustion reversal, the flame collapsing inward before extinguishing in a clean radius. Upon breach clearance, four officers and two federal agents were found incapacitated. The Subject was located centrally, conscious but disoriented, exhibiting acute nausea, tremors, and transient ocular bioluminescence (amber-gold). The Subject vomited at the scene and displayed no burn trauma despite proximity to the blast. (Ref: Acq-File/DPD-FBI/04-CL-17.)

  • Federal approach: WMD-I observer attached to USSTRATCOM initiated protective custody and preliminary interviews; FBI maintained jurisdictional cover and domestic analysis while oversight began transfer to STRATCOM for WMD-class review.

  • Program initiation: PROJECT AETHER established under WMD-I to evaluate anomaly; Subject read-in as ASSET S-01. (See Program Charter ASSET S-01, signed ████████.)

  • Note: FBI case identifiers C-ID #00-0000-M1 and Lab ID M1-0000-0210 (Quantico Biotech Division) were mirrored under AETHER for data continuity. Cross-references remain TSMX/JOINT and require dual-key authorization.

footnotes / clarifications (internal indexing)

  1. DPD/FBI joint file identifiers cross-referenced with FBI C-ID #00-0000-M1; Quantico Biotech Lab M1-0000-0210 mirrored to AETHER repositories.

  2. “B.O.W.” terminology prohibited in AETHER-labeled reports regarding S-01; use VEP (Volitional Energetic Phenomenon).

  3. All sedation orders require AETHER Medical sign-off; field sedation strongly discouraged.

  4. “Saint” moniker not to be used in official documents; retained here for field recognition only.

  5. Multiple archival instances exist in which S-01 imagery, biometric summaries, or deployment references appear in systems that do not possess acknowledged AETHER read-in authority. Source of crossover unresolved.

  6. At least two partner agencies appear to have maintained parallel partial profiles of S-01 under alternate classifications not recognized by STRATCOM indexing.

  7. Subject’s deployment trail intersects with several corporate and federal logistics systems previously thought to be unrelated. Full harmonization of these records remains administratively blocked.

  8. Archive modeling note: S-01 telemetry was later used in retroactive survivability simulations for Terragrigia-era evacuation collapse. Three pages of the assessment remain redacted. Analyst remark: Would have changed the math.

inter-agency liaison notes (extracts)

  • BSAA Field Lead: “He behaves like a medic with artillery permissions. Keep civilians visible—he calibrates to them.”

  • CDC Bio-Response: “He can sterilize what we can only model. Build kits without synthetics and stop trying to sedate a storm.”

  • FBI Coordinator: “Post-mission stabilization improves when paired with agents who speak quietly and don’t lie.”

  • UNSC Observer: “Presence reduces crowd panic; absence increases rumor. Choose the rumor you can live with.”

  • ████████: “He’s the only reason your evacuation math still works.”

  • DSO Supplemental: “Do not brief him with the sanitized version if you expect accurate field instincts. He already knows when he’s being lied to.”

FBI Internal Note: Subject doesn’t just survive the scene. He notices what got moved after.BSAA Internal Note: He isn’t frontline in the usual sense. He’s what you send when the frontline has already failed.

containment & employment guidance (field)

  1. Announce presence to on-site Blue, but do not credential publicly.

  2. Tasking order: civilian extraction → infrastructure stabilization → hazard sterilization.

  3. Medical: no synthetic analgesics; cooling blankets; oral fluids; monitor for hypotension post-surge.

  4. Comms discipline: expect EM flutter ±30s around Discharge; pre-agree hand signals.

  5. Aftercare: assign quiet room, low stimulus; one trusted officer to ground (contact permitted).

  6. Documentation: route all imagery to AETHER/black; purge copies; FOIA-exempt under TSMX.

Field Note: Subject capabilities are most reliable in protective, defensive, or triage-aligned expressions. Attempts to force offensive-only utility consistently produce reduced precision, increased collateral risk, or post-event collapse.

lab annex — excerpt (aether-lr-2458)

  • Testing environment: STRATCOM Secure Wing, AETHER Chamber A (Faraday, load-rated).

  • Telekinetic thresholds: 2,500–4,000 lb static bracing; projectile arrest up to 7.62×39 at 25m; multi-vector holds produce cognitive scatter after 8–12s.

  • Energetic conversion: repeatable hemostasis via micro-freeze, field cautery; crisis-only plasma events (non-reproducible in lab without ethical breach).

  • Empathic assays: near-instant affect recognition; panic down-regulation via proximity/voice; post-assay mirror symptoms.

  • Biology: no viral sequences; drug rejection across classes (notably sedatives/antibiotics).

  • Optical signature: iris shift to amber-gold; corneal scatter noted; devices clip HDR range.

  • Conclusion: Phenomenon is volitional, affect-modulated, cognitively gated. Control correlates with trust and perceived autonomy. Coercive environments degrade precision and increase collateral risk. Best performance occurs under trusted command and self-directed moral clarity.

Chamber A (Faraday cage, load-rated) Scene Statement: S-01 stands on taped crosshairs. The air tightens like a storm deciding whether to break. On cue, three test pellets fire; two stop mid-travel with a sound like teeth on glass; the third dents the back wall—he winces, says “Sorry,” as if he bumped a stranger. Vitals spike when an observer raises his voice; when the observer lowers it and says his name, control improves.

behavioral / psych narrative

“If he’s a monster, he’s the kind that refuses to act like one.” — Field Officer, anonymized

  • Altruism persistent under duress; lethal-force hesitation except in immediate defense or mass-casualty prevention.

  • Avoidant of clinical environments; associates sedation with captivity and loss of agency.

  • Post-mission quieting behaviors: isolation, environmental control (light/heat), repetitive hand cleaning; turns down overheads, leans forehead to drywall, counts breaths. Responds to grounding by contact if offered by a trusted partner.

  • Communication: soft-spoken, deferential, polite; apologizes after high-output events, always expresses gratitude toward team and staff. Displays persistent sensitivity to contradiction in official reporting, altered testimony, and procedural evasiveness. Distrust intensifies when casualty narratives, evidence handling, or command language appear engineered for optics over truth.

  • Moral framework: insists on civilian priority; hesitates only when lethal force risks noncombatants; moves decisively when the delay would cost more.

  • Risk: Accrued moral injury; guilt indexing elevated following collateral loss; empathy echo fatigue predictable on 24–72h cycle post-deployment.

  • Recommended management: two-person continuity team; no involuntary sedation unless threat to life; pair with field lead trained in trauma-informed command.

Clinician Note: Control correlates with trust and perceived agency. Coercion degrades precision. Do not confuse compliance with consent.

select debrief excerpts (redacted)

  • S-01: “If I leave them, I won’t sleep.”
Debriefer: “Sleep is not the mission.”
    S-01: “People are.”

  • S-01 (post-surge, whisper): “Tell them to breathe. I can hold it if they breathe.”

  • Field Lead (off-the-record): “He apologizes when he saves you. I don’t know what that makes us.”

remarks (command)

“He is not a solution; he is a person we ask to be one. Treat him accordingly, and he will keep saving people we cannot. Forget this, and AETHER becomes our next scandal, not our quiet redemption.” — ████████, WMD-I Deputy Director, USSTRATCOM

aether—a01 “saint” asset profile

Capability Profile:
Subject S-01 demonstrates integrated telekinetic, thermokinetic, and hematokinetic phenomena forming a unified “aetheric field response.” Consistent operational bias toward civilian protection, measured force, and minimal collateral mortality (zero verified civilian fatalities across 37 recorded events). Control remains primarily instinctive rather than procedural. Containment deemed non-viable; cooperation remains the only sustainable model.

A1 — TELEKINETIC FIELD MANIPULATION
Controlled directional force projection; demonstrated precision ranging from micro-trajectory adjustment (projectile interdiction) to macro-load stabilization (structural bracing, multi-axis containment).

Documented Behaviors:
• Dynamic bullet redirection (3–9 rounds simultaneous).
• Momentary gravitational nullification (“pressure dome” formation).
• Debris arrest and redistribution for defensive coverage.
• Kinetic displacement of biological entities (“momentum reallocation”).
Operational Notes:
• Sustained multi-axis load (>12 s) induces severe cognitive strain, vasovagal syncope, and post-event emesis.
• Fine-control accuracy exceeds current mechanical countermeasures (≤ 2 cm deviation over 6 m).
• Behavioral signature: altruistic bias; activation preferentially triggered by imminent civilian harm.

A2 — ELEMENTAL / ENERGETIC CONVERSION
Localized conversion of kinetic potential to thermal and plasma states. Controlled ignition through air compression and field friction.

Documented Behaviors:
• Rapid cauterization / sterilization events (≤ 2 m radius).
• Plasma filament generation (“blood-whip” effect) at 1200–1800 °C estimated surface temperature.
• Air compression shear (sub-lethal shock fronts).
• Short-duration aqua/cryogenic expression for bleed control.
Observations:
• Gold-spectrum bioluminescence (iris and epidermal reflection) concurrent with plasma generation.
• Event signature detectable on EM bands 3–5; sensor clipping frequent.
• Emotional regulation remains partial determinant of stability (anger, protective instinct).

A3 — HEMATOKINETIC / BIO-PLASMIC CONTROL (Derived)
Unique subclass manifestation between A1 and A2; manipulation of organic fluid at micro-hydrodynamic level.

Documented Behaviors:
• Cessation and redirection of arterial flow in live targets (field neutralization).
• Extrusion and suspension of blood droplets under telekinetic control; formation of hardened plasma-glass projectiles.
• Conversion of hemoglobin and plasma into charged filament constructs capable of thermochemical degradation of biomass.
Operational Notes:
• Energetically taxing; extended usage correlates with internal hemorrhage and hypotensive collapse.
• Subject exhibits residual anemia and iron taste synesthesia post-event.
• Classified under emergent “Bio-Resonant Manipulation” category (BRM-1).

A4 — REGENERATIVE / REJECTION RESPONSE
Accelerated cellular repair with selective tolerance for biological compounds only.

Observed Parameters:
• Minor lacerations: complete recovery ≤ 6 h.
• Organ trauma: partial function restoration ≤ 72 h under supervision.
• Intolerance to synthetic sedatives, antibiotics, and analgesics.
Support Protocols:
• Non-synthetic or plant-based pharmacology required (see Med-Annex §7).
• Post-Discharge metabolic collapse frequently observed (hypothermic, hypotensive).

A5 — “AETHER DISCHARGE” (Crisis Phenomenon)
Short-duration, high-output event combining multiple capacities into uncontrolled release.

Documented Effects:
• EM interference, localized gravity inversion, kinetic stasis fields.
• Pathogen and aerosol neutralization; spontaneous plasma ignition of biomass.
• Gold-spectrum luminosity; complete ocular burn-through in 78% of captures.
Control Index:
• Unknown; consistently altruistic trigger profile (“civilian imminence”).
• Post-event: Subject collapse, multi-system strain.
Field Descriptor: Observers note affect as “surgical,” not destructive; results classified as controlled containment rather than attack.

A6 — EMPATHIC RESONANCE / AFFECTIVE PERCEPTION (Residual)
Heightened perception of psychophysiological states within close proximity; possible influence limited to down-regulation of panic via tone and contact.

Observations:
• Subject exhibits mirrored distress post-incident (tachycardia, tremor).
• Not tested for interrogation or crowd-management deployment.
• Expressed empathy may reinforce capability triggers.

Red Team / Risk Assessment:

  • Threat to Adversary: Extreme, environment-bounded (line-of-sight/attention).

  • Threat to Blue Force: Low–Moderate; surge events can de-energize comms/optics; deconflict lanes; hard-mute recording if compromising allied identities.

  • Threat to Civil Population: Low; Subject’s intent filter trends protective.

  • Exploitation Risk: High if captured (ethical/political catastrophe). Mitigation: custody opacity; rotating covers; no fixed badge; minimal digital footprint; decoy entries.

  • Institutional risk: Treating Subject as B.O.W. analog undermines compliance and increases surge likelihood. Do not employ punitive controls. The most reliable governor is agency—his and ours.

Internal addendum:
Subject usefulness should not be mistaken for consent. Repeated reliance on S-01 to reduce casualty counts in preventable incidents has created unacceptable ethical exposure across participating agencies. Continued deployment without disclosure controls and inter-agency accountability review increases both operational and political risk.

RE: INVESTIGATION LOG — INTERNAL OBSERVATION

Summary:Multiple federal response agencies have demonstrated repeat patterns of containment delay during bioterror incidents.Official justification: jurisdictional conflict.Observed outcome: civilian exposure windows increase by an average of 14–26 minutes before active containment begins. The delay is consistent across multiple incidents involving separate agencies and separate command authorities. However, recovery contractors often arrive with unusual speed once containment fails.Procurement records indicate several private security and recovery firms appearing repeatedly across unrelated outbreak zones. Some of these companies are linked to ███ █████████ defense procurement networks.Observation:Containment failures appear chaotic.Recovery operations do not. Conclusion:I cannot prove coordination. But the response network behaves less like an emergency system
and more like a market.

This archive is not authorized under AETHER reporting policy. Creating a private record is likely a violation of program oversight rules. But if reports are being rewritten between agencies—someone should keep an unedited version.

RE: INTERAGENCY LOAN PROGRAM — IRREGULARITIES

The AETHER Inter-Agency Loan Program is described as an emergency resource system.
It is presented as a contingency measure.
Reality:Requests for deployment frequently originate from agencies that already possess adequate response units.
They already have trained response teams.
They already have containment resources.
They already have transport.
They already have clearance.
They already have personnel.
They already have command authority.
And still the request is sent.
Requests often arrive after the outbreak has escalated.
Containment windows are already closing.
Civilian exposure increases.
Response becomes reactive.
Recovery becomes inevitable.
The pattern repeats.
Result:I am sent to stabilize situations that should have been prevented.
I arrive after containment fails.
I arrive after the reports are written.
I arrive after the damage spreads.
I arrive when prevention is no longer possible.
Observation:Someone prefers catastrophe over prevention.I am beginning to believe the delays are intentional.

“Umbrella maintains the largest stockpile of anti-B.O.W. equipment in the private sector.”
However, their teams consistently arrive prior to BSAA strike units. In three separate incidents, Umbrella equipment transports arrived before outbreak confirmation was publicly transmitted.Which means one of three things is true.    1. Umbrella maintains faster intelligence networks than the agencies responsible for stopping outbreaks.    2. Umbrella has access to outbreak prediction models unavailable to federal response programs.    3. Umbrella already knows where the outbreaks will happen.

do not trust them
umbrella is not dead
do not trust them
umbrella is not dead
do not trust them

It’s possible this is coincidence. But if Umbrella logistics teams are always positioned ahead of containment teams…then someone is planning for the aftermath before the disaster begins.

RE: NETWORK OVERLAP — RESPONSE CONTRACTORS

The same recovery contractors appear in containment zones across multiple unrelated incidents.Different countries.
Different agencies.
Different pathogens.
Same companies. When the names change, the shell corporations remain connected through identical procurement intermediaries.Cross-reference points identified so far:• ███ Biomedical Recovery Services
• Helios Emergency Logistics
• ██████ Strategic Containment
• Former Tricell logistics subsidiaries
• █████-██ Pharmaceutical procurement channels
• Reconstruction contractors previously associated with █████████ disaster recovery
• Several shell companies with financial routing tied to an unidentified organization referred to internally as “███ ███████████.”
These entities do not appear in outbreak briefings. They appear after containment failure.Every time.Which suggests one of two possibilities:Either someone has built a global response network that activates the moment containment collapses.Or someone knows exactly when containment will collapse.

It’s meant to explain things away.
Files. Numbers. Incident reports. They write everything down so they don’t have to look at it.[pause]If you’re still following the trail, then you already know something important.Light doesn’t save people.
It just lets you see them better.
And once you see something clearly…it becomes very hard to ignore. Some people see a weapon.

I see people.People who are scared.
People who are trying.
People who keep going even when the world insists they shouldn’t.

You asked questions the files didn’t answer.
You followed the light instead of the instructions.
That matters more than you probably realize.Because the truth is… the world doesn’t fall apart when people stop caring. It falls apart when people stop noticing. When they stop seeing each other.
When they start believing whatever the system tells them they are.

UMBRELLA INTERNAL COMMUNICATION
RECOVERED NODE — LEGACY CHANNEL

INPUT REF: 974
STATUS: VERIFIED
SOURCE: EMBEDDED PROCUREMENT CONTACT (U.S. FEDERAL)

U.S. STRATEGIC COMMAND has acquired a non-viral anomalous subject following a failed containment event tied to unauthorized mutagen research.Cross-reporting confirms Federal Bureau of Investigation involvement under domestic jurisdictional claim (C-ID designation observed).Subject profile:
• no detectable viral agent
• no parasitic signature
• environmental influence recorded
• survival event inconsistent with baseline human tolerance
Initial conclusion:
Not a product of existing B.O.W. research lines.
Addendum:
STRATCOM has classified the subject under a compartmentalized research program.
Access restrictions exceed standard WMD-I protocol.
Observation:
They do not understand what they have.
Recommendation:
Continue passive observation through federal procurement channels.
Do not interfere with early-stage testing.
If the subject stabilizes, acquisition will be significantly easier later.

███ ██████ — INTERNAL MEMORANDUM

DISTRIBUTION: RESTRICTED LINEAGE CHANNELS
REFERENCE: EXTERNAL ASSET MONITORING

We have received confirmation of the anomaly designated S-01 within U.S. federal containment systems.Data obtained through indirect access (STRATCOM / FBI overlap) indicates:The subject does not respond to viral influence.
The subject does not degrade under stress exposure.
The subject exhibits adaptive stabilization tied to emotional state.
This is not mutation. This is inheritance without lineage. That makes it valuable.Government handlers are attempting replication through artificial pathways.
They are failing.
Continue data acquisition through:
• recovery contractors
• pharmaceutical intermediaries
• embedded oversight committees
Do not approach the subject directly. If their system breaks him, we collect what remains. If it does not—
we will need to.

CLASSIFICATION: OBSERVATIONAL B.O.W. PARALLEL STUDY
SUBJECT CROSS-REFERENCE: AETHER S-01 (“SAINT”)
STATUS: EXTERNAL TESTING VIA GOVERNMENT DEPLOYMENT

Umbrella no longer maintains direct custody of advanced research assets.
However, legacy influence remains embedded in global response infrastructure.
Utilization strategy:
Leverage federal deployment patterns to expose subject to controlled variables.
Confirmed test environments:
• Kijuju-derived Plaga strain exposure (BSAA operation)
• Post-C-Virus contamination zones (Eastern Europe recovery routes)
• Residual T-Phobos stress environments (black-site overlap)
• Civilian panic density thresholds (urban collapse scenarios)
Findings:
Subject output increases under:
• proximity to mass casualty events
• perceived threat to non-combatants
• emotional stress tied to protection response
Notably:
No viral integration.
No parasitic rejection.
No cellular rewrite.
Conclusion:
Subject is not compatible with B.O.W. classification systems.
Subject is a control failure.
Addendum:
Government agencies believe they are studying the subject.
They are providing us with field data at scale.
Continue observation. Intervention remains unnecessary. The system is already doing the work for us.

The subject continues to operate within federal systems under fragmented authority.STRATCOM believes they own him.
The FBI believes they can use him.
Other agencies believe they can request him.
They are all correct.None of them are in control.

You were not meant to find this archive. But since you did—and chose not to retain the anomaly’s communication—
you have demonstrated acceptable compliance behavior.
You do not interfere.
You do not retain unauthorized signals.
You do not deviate.
That makes you predictable. We prefer predictable.

Clarification:The subject will not be terminated.
Termination wastes potential.
The subject will not be freed.
Freedom introduces variables.
The subject will continue to be deployed, observed, and refined—
until the mechanism behind the anomaly is fully understood.
At that point, ownership will be clarified.

Final Note: The anomaly believes noticing changes things. It does not.The System adapts.
It always has.
It always will.

baldur's gate 3: of mindflayers and men
#( bg3 / v. of mindflayers and men )baldur's gate 3, reimagined.

continuing the journey of the sanguine slayer: the sword coast promised to harbor cures for cursed ailments, and arthur anastos was eager to scour what he could find about immortal curses from its people. it is just his luck, however, that his visit is cut short by none other than an illithid attack. now stranded in an unknown land with something squirming behind his eyes, it seems he has more than one curse he must get rid of before it is too late.

your blood is a weapon — a star-flecked crimson sea that hardens into blades capable of felling gods. once the heir to a proud lineage of monster hunters, you now carry a curse that binds you to the undying king, a revenant who feeds on the essence of your soul. you’ve outlived your family, slain horrors that haunt the edges of the world, and spent years searching for a way to end your burden. but the sword coast offers no refuge. an illithid parasite writhes behind your eyes, threatening to claim you before your true enemy ever can. can you rid yourself of two curses at once — or will the king claim what is his, and drag you into eternity with him ??

this verse is an adapted continuation of ubiytsa, the mark of the king. please read ubiytsa for more background information. some elements of the original backstory will be presented as recurring themes, similar to the origin characters of the game. for additional questions and plotting, please reach out.

name: arthur anastos
title: ‘ the sanguine slayer of anastos ’
race: human [variant]
class: slayer [similar to a blood hunter], sorcerer — multi-planar fighter with innate magical prowess, strength in mortal sanguinistry [hemocraft], and resilience to the influence of other planes.
personality:
- disciplined, pragmatic, and relentless: years of hunting the undying have left arthur unflinching in the face of horror, though not immune to weariness.
- quiet wit, hidden warmth: he’s sparing with words, but a glint of humour or unexpected kindness sometimes slips through.
- bound by duty: even in a strange land, he cannot ignore suffering — though every act of heroism risks drawing the king’s attention.
companion approval triggers:
- approves of: helping innocents without asking for reward, killing monstrous threats, using cunning over brute force, resisting temptations of power, persistence in hopeless odds.
- disapproves of: needless cruelty, forming pacts with dark forces, mocking the dead, abandoning a hunt unfinished.
personal quest – ‘ the hunger of kings ’
arthur’s curse is a tether to the undying king — and the king is hunting. rumors of starved, hollow-eyed corpses along the coast may signal his approach. arthur will need rare relics, forbidden magic, and perhaps the strength of allies to end the king before the king ends him.

dark souls — burden unbroken
dark souls universe, reimagined.

a soul endures where all others hollow. oath, vow, burden, care ... each carried across cycles, heavier than the last. born of oolacile's broken light yet reshapen by will, his miracles are no gift of gods but fragments of the self set aflame. ally, merchant, phantom, or secret judgement ... he is the unhollowed seer, a remnant of every age, and a memory that refuses to fade.

dark souls
#( souls / v. the oathbound pilgrim )

the flame asks you to burn. the dark asks you to fall. but burden asks you to endure. which would you rather, pilgrim ??

dark souls ii
#( souls / v. the forsworn vowkeeper )

you… you remind me of another. long ago. they bore much, too much. and yet they fell. perhaps this time… the vow will hold.

dark souls iii
#( souls / v. the unhollowed seer )

do you feel it, too ?? the weight in the marrow. the flame thins, the dark stirs. it has happened before. it will happen again. and still, you walk forward... ah. then perhaps it is you.

dark souls
#( souls / v. the oathbound pilgrim )

among the ruins of the first age of fire, arthur walks as one out of place: a pilgrim of burden, sworn once to the way of white but cast out for miracles that bore the glow of sorcery. his eyes, brown until they blaze gold, mark him as anomaly and heretic both — proof of oolacile’s folly, or its strange survival.he lingers in the undead parish, whispering of oaths that remain long after gods have fled. his burdens are three: the recovery of a relic he once carried, the laying low of a knight lost to hollowing, and the delivery of a prayer to a fading cleric. should these be fulfilled, he may be summoned as a phantom against gwyn, lord of cinder — his golden flame striking briefly against the god of flame. should they fail, he is found in the kiln of the first flame, a husk of oaths unkept, eyes alight in judgment, a secret fight against the player themselves.

cycles, cycles... the bells ring, the gods fall, the flame wanes. and still we walk. do you not wonder, pilgrim, if we've walked it all before ??

a pilgrim of burden, soul unbroken, eyes touched by light. once a seer of white, now a wanderer among fading gods. he kneels where oaths lie shattered, bearing relics of faith as though weight could absolve him. his miracles burn gold not from divinity, but from will, born of care that refuses to hollow. ally to the chosen, or else an oath of ash that must be cut down.

location: found in the undead parish, sitting at the base of a broken statue near the church bells. later relocates to firelink shrine after progress in his questline.role: an outsider pilgrim tied loosely to the way of white, he journeys not to ring the bells, but to see what is left of the gods' kingdom. faction: way of white — former cleric under thorolund and once a pilgrim of faith though is now considered heretical, knights of thorolund — indirect but familiar with his exile, oolacile — theoretical and unconfirmed, firelink shrine — tolerated uneasily though never embraced and never participant, darkwraiths — indirect opposition due to unhollowed status.

first encounter — kneeling at the undead parish.

the bells ring, and yet no god answers. still, the faithful climb, carrying silence as if it were salvation. what deafening silence...

some said my light was false, that i bore folly separate from the way’s truth. perhaps they were right. yet still, we all burn, do we not ?? whether by folly or by truth... we burn, even now.

perhaps you are familiar with this burn, undead one... there are three burdens i cannot carry, though i have held them across ages. would you be kind enough to share their weight ?? to hold their flame ??

carry them, and perhaps oaths will not lie in ash.

questline — task 1: recover the oathstone fragment from the depths, guarded by basilisks.

before:   there was a stone. oathbound, cracked, still warm to the touch. it lies now in filth, where no vow should rest. will you bring it back ??

after:   ah. you carried it from the mire. stones do not keep vows. but still, they remember.

questline — task 2: lay to rest a hollowed knight, an old comrade in new londo.

before:   once, i swore beside a knight of thorolund. a good man, i would say... now he wanders hollow, blade without vow, aimless. if you meet him, please end his oath for me.

after:   he fell ?? oh... good. better to fall than to wander. oaths kept in death are lighter than those broken in life.

questline — task 3: deliver a blurred letter to rhea.

before:   one last burden to carry. a letter. its ink runs, its words blur. please... give it to rhea, if she still breaths. if not... then let the silence keep it.

after, if delivered:   she read it ?? ha... to think... then perhaps i am not yet forgotten... that is mercy enough.

after, if undeliverable:   she was gone ?? poor girl. then the letter weighs heavier still. some think the dead need no words... but i write to them anyway, i suppose.

completion — summonable against gwyn.

three burdens, and you carried them. perhaps you will endure where others fell. when the fire calls... summon me. i will stand even if it burns me to ash.

failure — the oathbound ash at the kiln of the first flame.

the oath was broken. then let me show you burden.

rhea of thorolund:
that pilgrim... arthur. he carries burdens heavier than most. i fear for him, though he says nothing of himself. i pray those burdens do not crush him.

petrus of thorolund:
hmph. that wretch ?? he is no true pilgrim of white. he dallies in foul magic, tainted by folly, and yet they call him faithful. best you avoid him and keep your distance.

siegmeyer of catarina ( if asked ):
ah !! that seer fellow. a kind man, though rather... heavy of the heart. he spoke of oaths and flame, though i confess i understood little. still, he seemed honest enough !!

darkstalker kaathe ( if joining darkwraiths ):
there is one who resists the abyss, an unhollowed pilgrim who would not fall. he clings to burdens like a fool clings to flame. he is no friend to the dark.

dark souls ii
#( souls / v. the forsworn vowkeeper )

a vow carried into ruin, unyielding even as kingdoms fall. imprisoned, freed, bound again by oaths heavier than chains. he lingers by the sea and the shrine of candles, watching crowns rise and drown beneath the tide. his miracles are fragments of light once born in ancients, twisted by burden into care given form. summon his aid, and he will fight at your side. forsake him, and he will stand against you, soul blazing with vows that never end.

location: found in the lost bastille, chained in a cell but unbroken. can be freed by the player. later moves to majula, sitting near the cliffs with a single candle burning beside him.role: a fallen seer. he offers cryptic foreshadowing about vendrick, nashandra, and the endless repetition of ages. his soul resists hollowing, much to the unraveling of the emerald herald. sometimes hints that he once fought beside another chosen who linked the flame but refuses to say if they succeeded or failed.faction: heides / blue sentinels — earned the gilded pupil relic long ago, now subject to mild animosity ; often the topic of gossip amongst the sentinels, pilgrims of dark — known in passing from previous exchange ; antagonistic, majula's exiles — a natural guest if not an anomaly even among them, king vendrick's circle — old loyalty still burning and a vow too heavy to carry alone.

in drangleic, where crowns sink beneath tides and memory gnaws at the living, arthur endures as vowkeeper: prisoner of chains that cannot weigh him down, bearer of oaths heavier than any crown. once freed from the bastille, he lingers in majula by a single candle, watching the sea roll endlessly — a mirror to the vows he carries, unbroken yet eroded.his burdens are three: the recovery of his vowblade from a pursuer’s shadow, the cleansing of a shrine corrupted by dark, and the delivery of a final letter to king vendrick. should they be fulfilled, he becomes a summon at the throne of want against the watcher and defender. should they be forsaken, he falls at last to the abyss in the shards of the dark chasm, a forsaken knight whose vows burn his body hollow.

i have seen it before. flame, dark, crown, ruin. each age falls into the next, like corpses into the sea. and yet, still we walk forward, as though it matters. it does... does it not ??

first encounter — chained in a cell in the lost bastille.

chains rust, guards die, and still i remain. not hollow, not free. only bound.

do not look so startled. this cell is no prison to me. i have carried vows heavier than any iron.

you... bearer of the curse, are you ?? i see it in your marrow, the way your flame gutters. perhaps you will endure longer than most.

i cannot set these burdens down. three vows i have sworn, and each has grown heavier than the last. please... will you carry them in my stead ?? only for a time. only until silence takes us both.

questline — task 1: recover the broken vowblade from the pursuer.

before:   my blade lies in shadow, torn from me by a hunter who knows no vow. please bring it back so that i may rest lighter.

after:   your returned it. the steel is cracked, but the vow endures. heavy as it is, silent i shall be. that is enough.

questline — task 2: cleanse the candle shrine in amana.

before:   in amana, there is a shrine where candles gutter, drowning in shadow. i swore to keep them lit. i failed. if you could... or perhaps that is too much to ask...

after:   the candles... they burn again ?? oh, good. thank you. light breaks, dark devours... but the vows endure.

questline — task 3: deliver the letter to vendrick.

before:   one last burden. a letter, to vendrick. he will not answer. but even silence may keep a vow, if the words are carried.

after, if delivered:   he received it ?? ha... to think... then even a broken king remembers... yes, that is mercy enough.

after, if undeliverable:   he was gone ?? poor man. then the vow breaks in silence. all vows must in time, i suppose.

completion — summonable against velstadt and throne of want.

you carried them. blade, shrine, vow. with kindness. with care. perhaps you will stand where crowns fall. when the throne calls... summon me. i will stand, vow unbroken, as i have before.

failure — the vowkeeper forsworn at the dark chasm of old.

oaths unkept. promises broken. then let the vow break you.

lucatiel of mirrah ( after bastille ):
the man in the cell... i thought him hollow at first. but he looked at me, and his eyes burned like flame. i could not meet them for long.

emerald herald:
that one by the cliff... he is no hollow, yet no flame. i know not what he is, only that his soul is unbearably heavy.

king vendrick ( if letter delivered ):
arthur... he lingers yet ?? then there is one vow still unbroken. i am glad. glad... though i have failed him.

straid of olaphis:
ha !! you've met him, have you ?? the one who will not hollow. yes, yes, i know of him. a relic, walking. he cheats the curse itself. oh, the sentinels despise him for it.

dark souls iii
#( souls / v. the unhollowed seer )

in the twilight of lothric, when even gods have fallen to ash, he remains: arthur, the unhollowed seer, whose soul endures across ages without hollowing. brown-eyed in quiet, gold-eyed in battle, his miracles burn not as gifts of gods but as burdens born of will.found in the cathedral of the deep, he kneels at a broken altar, whispering of oaths and silence. his burdens are three: the recovery of the gilded pupil from a corrupted sentinel, the cleansing of a blood basin fouled by abyss, and the delivery of an ashen missive to a dying cleric. fulfill them, and he becomes a summonable ally in the fight against the soul of cinder, later a vendor of relics in firelink. forsake them, and he is found instead in the untended graves, the everlit soul: eyes blazing, miracles turned to judgment, a secret boss whose defeat yields his soul — a will that will not hollow, even in death.

ah, you again. strange... you feel familiar. as though i've watched you walk before. in another age. another flame. perhaps... when you stand at the end, unkindled, the world itself will bow. fire or dark, silence or song. what will claim you then ?? or will you claim yourself...

a remnant of oolacile’s folly, burden incarnate, the man who will not hollow. his soul burns brown to gold, casting phantoms of care and oaths unbroken into a world of ash. factions call him heretic, anomaly, curse, yet he walks among them all, carrying silence where gods once spoke. complete his burdens, and he will stand with you at the world’s end. fail him, and he becomes the everlit soul — flame eternal, burden unending, a secret judgment in the graves of the untended.

location: found in the cathedral of the deep, kneeling before a shattered saint statue, one hand on his sword pommel. later relocates to firelink shrine after progress in his questline.role: an unhollowed anomaly whose soul resists the cycles. called seer by some, heretic by others, he offers cryptic warnings about the fading flame, londor’s hunger, and the inevitability of repetition.faction: cathedral of the deep — tolerated as a pilgrim though his presence unsettles the devout, londor — condemned as a curse upon the hollowing and proof against the sable church's creed, firelink shrine — tolerated uneasily though the firekeeper cannot name the wholeness of his soul, way of the white / blue sentinels — rumored involvement though all is only seen through gossip.

first encounter — knelt beside a crumbling statue in the cathedral of the deep.

the saint lies in ruin, and yet, the faithful still bow. strange, isn't it ?? i wonder if they pray for her, or for themselves.

do you feel it too ?? the weight in the marrow. the flame thins, the dark stirs. it has happened before. it will happen again.

and still... you walk forward. ah... perhaps you are the one i have waited for.

would you hear a request, unkindled ?? three burdens i cannot carry, though i have carried them across ages. if you would take them upon yourself, perhaps the world might yet be spared.

questline — task 1: recover the gilded pupil from a corrupted blue sentinel in the catacombs.

before:   i once carried an eye of gold, given by the sentinels. a relic of faith. now it festers in the hand of one who hunts without purpose. please bring it back to me, if only to let it close.

after:   ah, the eye returns. and yet it sees nothing. that is the way of relics, is it not ?? blind eyes, worshipped still.

questline — task 2: cleanse the blood basin feeding into the abyss.

before:   there is a basin deep beneath this place where blood runs thicker than flame. i swore once to keep it pure. i failed. please... if you finish what i could not... the dead may yet sleep in peace.

after:   the basin runs dry ?? thank you. perhaps my oath is less heavy. no, no. oaths never grow lighter. they grow silent. that is enough.

questline — task 3: deliver the ashen missive to a dying priestess in lothric castle.

before:   one last... a letter, to a priestess. she will not answer, she may not even breathe. but even words unreceived are better than silence, yes ??

after, if delivered:   you gave it to her ?? ha... how... then i am not forgotten yet, still. for that, thank you. you have my sincere gratitude. this mercy... may her prayers keep you.

after, if undeliverable:   she was gone ?? poor priestess. then tthe letter lies cold in your hand. perhaps that is fitting. the dead have no use for words. but we speak them still, don't we ??

completion — summonable against the soul of cinder.

three burdens, and yet you carried them. you remind me of another... long ago... perhaps you will not fall as they did. or this time, we will... together... when the end comes, call for me. i will stand with you, and burn if i must.

failure — the everlit soul at the untended graves.

i asked for care. i asked for burden. you gave me silence. then let silence answer silence.

yuria of londor:
that man, the seer... he is a curse upon londor. an unhollow who will not bow to dark. proof that our creed is flawed, unless he is slain. beward of him, ashen one. his words are poison wrapped in care. if you would be true to us, cut him down.

anri of astora:
you've met the seer, haven't you ?? his soul does not fade, no matter how deep the curse. it frightens me... and yet, i envy him.

eygon of carim:
the seer ?? hmph. a heretic. too soft for a knight, too proud for a priest. i'd sooner put him down myself. still... he does not hollow. i cannot abide it, but i cannot deny it either.

hawkwood the deserter:
that one ?? sitting in the cathedral ?? calls himself a seer. i don't trust him. no one who refuses to hollow can be right in the head. but... if he really can endure it... then maybe there's a chance for the rest of us, eh ??

final fantasy xv: a flicker of light in the darkness
#( ff15 / v. a flicker of light in the darkness )final fantasy xv, reimagined.

arthur is a hunter, dubbed ‘ the midnight sword ’, who specializes in hunting daemons and other starscourge creatures. he is gifted with a natural ability to use elemancy, the elemental magic of the world, without the use of a magic flask and can also call upon unique psionic abilities. however, he does not quite know where this power comes from, as it has only been tied to the royal family in history and legends ( though, what most legends neglect to mention is the hand that passes them — is it possible, between the oracle, the astrals, the messangers, and the king, that there is the wandering prophet that watches destiny unfold and documents the choices which mark the passing of time ?? ). during the events of the game, he travels to the front lines of the starscourge to help people retreat from the onslaught of daemons and the ruthless attacks from the niflheim empire.

you are a strange child born in darkness, as though it is only in the night that you shine brightest. there is destiny in your veins, but neither you nor your parents really understand it. when you are but a tender age, it is revealed that you are more than just another child running rampant on the dusty outer streets of lucis - no, you are special in that you can pull magics from the ground the way that KINGS DO ( and OH !! that is so terribly wrong, for you are no king, you are no royalty, and your blood is as meaningless as it is VISCOUS AND THICK ). your parents do the only thing they can think of, HIDE YOUR TRAGIC SOUL, for fear that it is YOU who brings them BAD OMENS, and you who will find that pesky destiny in the ruin of their home. your dreams of FATED FIDELITY are crushed as swiftly as they grew ( on the backs of old kings, legends of the oracle and the son of the throne, other pulls of fortune far beyond you ) but it is in your NATURE to be KIND, to be RESILIENT, and you MUST FIND DUTY somewhere else in your life, for it calls to you in the same darkness whence you were born !! you seek destiny in the blackened void that comforts you the most, the UNENDING NIGHT that rests in your very bones. and there, that is where you find the will to do MORE, putting power to use as a dark soldier who slays monsters when all the rest of the world has fallen to sleep.

final fantasy xvi: on our own terms
#( ff16 / v. on our own terms )final fantasy xvi, reimagined.

born beneath iron banners, arthur branham learned early that service was survival and that mercy had no place in the hymns of his homeland. his parents were soldiers before him, and the kingdom did not raise children so much as it forged replacements. he obeyed because obedience meant breath, because faith meant flame, and flame meant home. but even obedience cracks under the weight of wonder. at nysa, where titan’s roar and shiva’s cry split the heavens, he reached to protect the men who had called him brother, and the world answered. gold light spilled from his hands—unbidden, untrained, defiant—and for the length of one astonished heartbeat the battle stopped. those he saved called it witchcraft; those who watched called it sin. when the shock faded, they aimed their fear at him.he ran before the pyre could learn his name. the hills took him, the rain stripped him of his sigil, and for a time he became a ghost that the war forgot to claim. yet the light would not leave him. even in exhaustion it pulsed, a faint gold through torn gloves, through fevered breath. perhaps it was the light that led cidolfus telamon to him—a man who saw through ruin as others saw through smoke. cid did not ask confession, only offered a place to begin again. and so arthur followed, first out of debt, then out of belief, learning in the quiet of the hideaway that rebellion could be an act of care.to the cursebreakers he became an oddity: a scout with a scholar’s patience, a soldier who could bend aether without scripture or symbol. his magic was not borrowed from gods but born of empathy, typeless and gold, drawn from the thin place where will meets mercy. he could still storms or speak to sleeping eikons, could weave the chaos of battle into calm—but every use carved something out of him. fever, blood, silence: small tithes to keep the light alive. still, he paid them gladly. the others began to call him the little sun—not for brightness, but for endurance, for the way his light clung stubbornly to the dark and refused to die even when he wanted to.

your parents are soldiers, and even though you are kind-hearted in a nation bred for loathing, you are made to follow in their footsteps. the iron kingdom teaches you that obedience is faith, that hate is devotion, and that mercy is the first sin. you learn early how to lift a blade before you learn how to hold a hand. when the annex of rosaria begins, you are still young enough to hope, old enough to know better. the war swallows you whole—its hymn of fire and salt, its prayers shouted over the sound of breaking bones—and you drink from it because you must. what else can a boy do when the world calls cowardice by the name of god? but loyalty is a fragile thing. it shatters the moment your magic wakes.it happens at nysa, where titan and shiva tear the sky apart. you stand in the crossfire, reaching to shield the men beside you, and the air itself obeys. aether blooms from your chest, gold and endless, halting the fall of stone, the spin of blade, the very breath of war. for an instant the battlefield bows to you, and when it looks up again, you are no longer one of them. they call you blasphemy, call you cursed, and you run because you must—because there are pyres enough in the kingdom to burn every question you’ve ever asked.you wander for days through rain and ruin until you meet a man who does not ask for your name or your faith, only whether you still wish to live. his name is cid, and he carries the storm like a promise. he does not save you with pity but with purpose, and you follow him into exile, into the hideaway, into a cause that asks you to build instead of destroy. now you serve as scout and cursebreaker, a bearer who bends light rather than kneels to it. your magic is typeless and gold, aether made thought, capable of stilling chaos or stirring it, of speaking to the sleeping gods beneath the skin of the world. it frightens you as much as it frees you, and the cost is written in blood and silence. still, wherever you go, warmth follows. they call you the little sun, not for grandeur but for persistence—for in a land where faith has turned to ash, you are the stubborn light that refuses to go out.

light doesn’t save people. it just lets you see them better before you decide who you want to be.

hades: the orphic primordial
#( hades / v. the orphic primordial )supergiant games' hades, reimagined.

phanes is a well-kept primordial secret. thought to have been birthed at the beginning of all existence, he rivals chaos for the title of the universe's creator. together, they shaped the known realms as the hands of change and the eyes of omniscience. but that was a time far before the olympian and chthonic woes of the present. now, to protect what has been made since, they meander within the abyssos, the chaos gates, and hold their influence until needed for reasons beyond them. always eager to provide, phanes relinquishes himself to chaos' ambiguity, hiding his existence so that it might not be used in the trivial conflicts of their creations. he is only remembered by nyx, the daughter of chaos, and through the legends and tales of orpheus, who hears whispers of the will of phanes in order to enact change into the world beyond.during the events of hades, he may be accessed through the chaos gates.   although hidden,   there are times where the fates may bring

stray souls down his path. he very rarely leaves the comfort of darkness, but he may eventually be coaxed by the fire-hearted conflict of the chthonic. during the events of hades ii, chaos' interference with the whims of chronos pushes him out of the abyssos. wandering the universe for the first time, he hides himself from the titan's watchful eye while navigating a world that has forgotten him.

you hide in the realm of CHAOS, amongst their gates, their endless void. if chaos is the keeper of secrets then you are a secret best left kept in darkness. a part of them, perhaps ?? for not even chaos can be CREATION if you cannot be CHANGE. the catalyst, the hands that move the eyes !! and birthed from the cosmic void, you share with them in exile what would otherwise be kept alone. only through the soft whisper you cast to ORPHEUS can you bring life to the impetus beyond the prison of your realm, breathing song onto tongue so that someday your harbinger will find you.

persona 5 royal: the hanged man
#( p5 / v. the hanged man )persona 5 royal, reimagined. fc: hei, darker than black

arthur is a playable hanged man confidant. he is able to freely commune with attis, though his true power lies in a mixture of attis' summoned abilities and his own innate psionic prowess. depending on the timeline, he is a third-year student of shujin academy or recently graduated. he is heavily associated with munehisa iwai and his adopted son, kaoru: he is often seen tending to the untouchable airsofts shop when iwai is out, or tutoring kaoru in the shujin academy library. he is like a second son to iwai, though due to his predisposition to organized crime, serves as a trusted assistant on both legal and illegal affairs at the shop and personal affairs at home.

you are stuck in the IN-BETWEEN - two worlds / two halves colliding, a shadow behind dead eyes and a light between thinning lips. all pale, all vivid. you thought you were SAFE when you ran, all those years ago, CLEAR from the terror of gunfire late into the night, the sound of screaming. dirty money, sobbing cries from people you didn't know. you were but A CHILD !! though that did not stop your father from trying to indoctrinate you. you never wanted to be YAKUZA ; despite desperate pleas from a dying man. ( “ YOU WERE CHOSEN !! ” he would scream at you. “ a weapon for your skill, a dog for our cause. ” you cursed him, for you knew all he sought was the power he already promised to his superiors. it was YOU ; an odd thing of the mind you possessed, subtle behind golden eyes. to move things without touch, sense danger without sight. maybe he was right, a WEAPON was who you were meant to be. ) but that didn't matter to your delicate resolve - as alien as you were ( soft edges, tender fists ), you would not let them take you.

you REFUSED. you RAN. and now you are TRAPPED. you're not stupid ; a young life of crime taught you some things well. you changed your name, used some dirty cash and forgery to live by yourself at the tender age of 15. trouble always found you though - so much so that you bought a GUN and OH !! that closed-off store owner reminded you of yourself. he would not sell to you unless you PROVED SOMETHING to him ( a gentle heart, a soul refusing to submit to a life of misery at the hands of something evil, something tainted ). you obliged ( easily, you are nothing if not knowledgeable and gutsy and kind ) and then, slowly, you found purpose under a new title: mr. munehisa iwai's store boy. he could use your wit, you can tell. he could use your skill. the way you protected the shop from thieves and thugs, stood your ground against gangs ( syndicates and family names you've since SCORNED ), even though sometimes iwai himself bows his head and obeys. it was fine - you respected him, his secretly soft eyes, subtle words of wisdom always telling you to KEEP RUNNING. you use his wages to keep yourself alive and all the while you stand by his side. by the time you are 18, you think you are changed. now in your third year of school, so close to graduating and making something new of yourself, you spend your days ever busy: mentoring a young kaoru with your smarts while helping protect him from the little dirty secret of a past you and iwai keep close to chest. iwai tries to push you out of the shop nowadays, tells you get a new better JOB, do something worth while with your life, your potential. but you can't bring yourself to leave him ( like a SECOND FATHER - though this one won't strike obedience in your flesh ). you let your discourse WHIP YOU instead ; you are STUCK between wanting to protecting this bittersweet fragile family and wanted to break into real freedom on your own, all the while running from past ties that still weigh you down and haunt you into the wee hours of the night.

stardew valley: protector of the valley

Arthur is a seasoned sorcerer who specializes in supernatural matters, from banishing rogue spirits to dismantling dangerous magical anomalies. Though not officially a titled member of the Adventurer’s Guild, his reputation spans the Order of the Knights of Pythagoras, where he is dispatched between guilds and clans across the world. He’s most often found in the company of Rasmodius or the wizards of Fern Island, discussing magical theory or quietly assisting with magical crises. Though reserved and reclusive, Arthur’s skill with both blade and spell makes him a dependable ally — one the valley turns to when supernatural trouble comes knocking.

Arthur’s dislike of the Ferngill Republic Ministry of Magic is well known ; he avoids political entanglements whenever possible, preferring to serve the people directly rather than the bureaucracy above them.

People think magic is all fireballs and fireworks. It’s not. Most of the time, it’s patching the same hole in the world over and over again before anyone notices it’s there. It’s being the person who goes out in the rain when you could be warm inside. I don’t mind. Not everything worth doing leaves you with applause — sometimes it just leaves you with a place that’s a little safer than it was yesterday.

RE: PERSONNEL SUMMARY — SSA DERRYL N. LOUIS (WFO CD)

name: special agent derryl nathan louis
division: counterintelligence division, washington field office
current role: supervisory special agent — cd operations, behavioral analysis liaison (human asset retention & development)
service years: 1986—present

career overview

Supervisory Special Agent D. N. LOUIS joined the Bureau in 1986 following service as a congressional intern on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. Known for his measured temperament and instinct for negotiation, LOUIS' early career focused on Cold War counterintelligence operations targeting espionage networks in the southeastern United States.By the late 1990s, he had transitioned into domestic behavioral counterintelligence, managing deep-cover surveillance programs that merged HUMINT with psychological profiling — a precursor to the methodologies later standardized in CIRG’s behavioral units.LOUIS earned a reputation for his patient mentorship of younger agents, his insistence on “never training fear into recruits,” and his unorthodox empathy for human subjects. He frequently clashed with bureaucratic leadership over the moral framing of loyalty, arguing that “trust is the Bureau’s first line of defense, not suspicion.”In 2007, during a joint DPD–FBI operation targeting interstate criminal communications out of Durham, NC, LOUIS met Officer ARTHUR J. BRANHAM. Impressed by BRANHAM's situational composure and analytic acuity, LOUIS sponsored his FBI application and later supervised his field integration. The two maintained a mentor-mentee relationship marked by deep mutual respect and rare emotional transparency — an anomaly in Bureau culture.LOUIS is credited with defending BRANHAM’s record during several internal reviews (2012–2015) and has privately expressed regret over the agent’s forced transfer to CIRG. According to interdepartmental correspondence, LOUIS petitioned to have BRANHAM reinstated under his supervision in 2020 but was overruled “on grounds of classification sensitivity.”

behavioral profile

Supervisory Special Agent LOUIS’ leadership file lists him as a “high-stability empathetic type.” His career has been defined by his ability to build morale and defuse escalation. Internal assessments note “a paternal protective instinct toward exceptional agents, occasionally to the detriment of protocol.”Privately, LOUIS is haunted by the cost of institutional loyalty and the quiet erosion of idealism. Despite three decades of service, his belief in individual ethics over blind obedience remains intact — a belief he instilled in BRANHAM, for better or worse.

summary

The relationship between Supervisory Special Agent LOUIS and former Special Agent A. J. BRANHAM is classified as HIGH-TRUST / HIGH-DEPENDENCE, with elevated emotional rapport beyond standard supervisory expectations. The dynamic exhibits elements of paternal mentorship, ethical identification, and mutual loyalty.LOUIS is assessed to view BRANHAM as a moral continuation of his own fading idealism within the Bureau; BRANHAM, in turn, appears to regard LOUIS as the first institutional figure whose integrity he has not doubted. While operationally positive in early career stages, such relationships are now considered behaviorally fragile under the Bureau’s current containment protocols. Continued unsanctioned contact is not recommended for LOUIS' active personnel status but is acknowledged to provide BRANHAM with one of his few remaining stabilizing external attachments.

asset relation overview

The professional relationship between Supervisory Special Agent LOUIS and former Special Agent A. J. BRANHAM originated during a joint DPD–FBI task operation (Durham, NC – April 2007). LOUIS, then serving as field supervisor, identified BRANHAM—then a DPD officer and licensed paramedic—as “operationally stable under duress, detail-oriented, and unusually perceptive to behavioral shifts within active scenes.”Following the operation, LOUIS served as primary referrer and field sponsor for BRANHAM’s FBI application (filed June 2008; accepted May 2009). Quantico assessments indicate LOUIS provided informal mentorship throughout training, with recurring notations of “calming influence,” “consistent academic feedback,” and “field ethics modeling.”During BRANHAM’s tenure in Counterintelligence (2009–2015), LOUIS functioned as both direct supervisor and designated performance reviewer for a two-year period, later transitioning to senior oversight after internal restructuring. The relationship extended beyond procedural mentorship; internal correspondence and peer testimony describe LOUIS as BRANHAM’s primary stabilizing contact and trusted point of counsel.Behavioral analytics (CD-P/113.7, 2013) identify BRANHAM as one of three subordinates to whom LOUIS demonstrated “sustained emotional investment,” characterized by advocacy in disciplinary and transfer proceedings and a consistent pattern of private welfare checks during field leaves.

behavioral assessment

D. N. Louis:
Displays strong paternal archetype tendencies toward subordinates perceived as “exceptional but unguarded.” Motivated by a belief in redemption and preservation of individual ethics within institutional frameworks. High empathy; potential to overextend boundaries for agents under perceived threat.
A. J. Branham:
Responded to Supervisory Special Agent LOUIS’ guidance with consistent deference and visible moral alignment. Displayed increased emotional equilibrium and social stability during documented mentorship period. Later regression (2016–2019) correlated directly with separation from LOUIS’ supervision and relocation to CIRG.
Analyst commentary notes: “Loss of Louis as an ethical anchor may have accelerated Branham’s institutional distrust. Conversely, Louis’s continued defense of Branham indicates enduring affective loyalty, atypical within Bureau norms.”

RE: PERSONNEL SUMMARY — ASSISTANT DIRECTOR MATTHEW E. PUNITT (CIRG HQ)

name: assistant director matthew elias punitt
division: critical incident response group, washington d.c. headquarters
current role: assistant director — cirg command, behavioral oversight, tactical response operations & restricted federal appointment oversight
service years: 1996—present

career overview

Assistant Director M. E. PUNITT entered the Bureau in 1996 following graduate work in Behavioral Science and Public Policy at Columbia University. Early service in the Hostage Rescue Team demonstrated exceptional command poise and tactical empathy, earning him rapid transition into CIRG’s strategic branch.By 2010, PUNITT had become a key architect of modern multi-division coordination within CIRG, recognized for integrating behavioral analytics into active response frameworks. His elevation to Assistant Director in 2014 followed the Gavin Creek Containment Operation, a case widely regarded as a textbook example of risk mitigation under extreme civilian pressure. In 2015, PUNITT identified Special Agent ARTHUR J. BRANHAM within the Counterintelligence Division as an ideal candidate for CIRG operations, citing “innate situational intuition, moral steadiness, and rare interpersonal calibration.” Early exchanges between the two reveal mutual respect and the beginnings of a personal friendship founded on long hours, intellectual rapport, and shared perfectionism. That rapport became the axis of CIRG’s experimental initiative to leverage BRANHAM’s emerging anomalous traits (Case ID #00-0000-M1). At the time, there existed no procedural precedent for supernatural phenomena within Bureau jurisdiction. PUNITT’s involvement—initially advisory—was escalated under directive from ████████, who assigned him full administrative authority over PROJECT M1-0000.Following C-ID #698-885 (2018), a mass-casualty event linked to uncontrolled manifestation, internal cohesion between PUNITT, BRANHAM, and SSA MARIUS BARRETT collapsed. The fallout forced PUNITT into the dual role of federal oversight authority and containment director—a function he has continued with visible personal strain.

behavioral profile

Assistant Director PUNITT is catalogued as Type II Pragmatic Idealist, demonstrating controlled affect and high analytical empathy tempered by moral compartmentalization.Empathy Index: 8.0 / 10
Operational Composure: 9.5 / 10
Ethical Dissonance Marker (post-2018): Critical
Containment Efficacy: Sustained High
Burnout Index: Progressive
Behavioral observation notes an increasing mismatch between stated belief and performed loyalty. Analysts record subtle “tells” of internal conflict: prolonged silence before command approvals, repeated pen-tapping during briefings, and a tendency to remain standing long after meetings end.Informal reports mention PUNITT’s habit of appearing in field surveillance under pretext of operational audit whenever BRANHAM is deployed. Video logs confirm presence at three separate containment perimeters (2021–2024).

summary

The relationship between Assistant Director PUNITT and Contractor A. J. BRANHAM is classified as HIGH-TRUST / HIGH-VOLATILITY, exhibiting strong interpersonal dependency beneath a framework of institutional control. While formally structured as a restricted federal oversight relationship, the pattern of interaction shows notable emotional reciprocity, sustained advocacy, and ethical conflict inconsistent with standard command hierarchy.Early correspondence and personnel notes (2015-2017) indicate a foundation of professional admiration and genuine friendship. PUNITT’s original recruitment of BRANHAM from the Counterintelligence Division stemmed from his recognition of the agent’s “extraordinary restraint under stress and moral intuition exceeding procedural training.” During initial field assignments under CIRG, both men demonstrated a shared intellectual compatibility—workaholic temperament, analytic precision, and a predisposition toward human-centric strategy—resulting in one of the Bureau’s most efficient operator-director pairings on record.Following C-ID #698-885 (2018) and the ensuing public-safety fallout, their professional rapport entered a state of chronic strain. Institutional directives from ████████ re-defined PROJECT M1-0000 as a strategic containment initiative, compelling PUNITT to assume direct handler responsibilities and to enforce coercive measures he had previously opposed. This administrative realignment introduced visible dissonance between his personal ethics and professional compliance, with secondary impact on BRANHAM’s emotional stability.Although the partnership continues to achieve high operational success, post-incident data confirms recurrent volatility in closed-door exchanges. Multiple unverified but consistent reports suggest heated verbal disputes and physical altercations between the two, none witnessed publicly, all believed to occur during high-stress containment briefings. Despite this, communication records display ongoing mutual cooperation and a rare capacity for post-conflict re-stabilization.In its present form, the relationship functions as both stabilizing and destructive—a paradox of reliance, guilt, and residual loyalty. While behavioral analysts note that PUNITT’s influence remains the primary factor in BRANHAM’s compliance and mental equilibrium, the same influence continues to undermine the Assistant Director’s moral detachment and policy alignment.

restricted appointment overview

The professional relationship between Assistant Director M. E. PUNITT and Contractor A. J. BRANHAM originated with a CIRG recruitment review in late 2015. At the time, PUNITT, then Deputy AD, identified BRANHAM as “uniquely adaptable to high-density crisis environments, capable of reading behavioral atmospherics faster than situational reports.” The subsequent transfer (May 2016) placed BRANHAM under PUNITT’s operational umbrella and direct mentorship of Supervisory Special Agent MARIUS BARRETT, establishing a balanced three-tier command model—strategic (PUNITT), tactical (BARRETT), field (BRANHAM).Between 2016 and 2018, internal reports describe their coordination as “exceptional and symbiotic,” with field results exceeding projected response metrics by 32%. Peer testimony cites the group’s culture of “disciplined compassion,” a term attributed to PUNITT’s leadership philosophy that “efficacy is never cruelty.” This dynamic fostered a period of stability for BRANHAM and reinforced PUNITT’s belief that emotional intelligence could coexist with command authority. The Warehouse Incident marked the point of fracture. Post-event debriefs record BARRETT filing an ethics protest regarding BRANHAM’s continued deployment; PUNITT supported the appeal but was overruled by ████████ ORDER 322-M1. Internal annotations confirm that PUNITT’s attempted intervention was met with executive threat of reassignment and clearance suspension. Following this decision, communication between PUNITT and BRANHAM shifted from mentorship to damage control. Both continued to perform, but their exchanges grew alternately curt and heated.Behavioral analytics (CIRG-M1/422.6, 2021) note a correlation between the resumption of regular private debriefs and measurable reduction in subject volatility. PUNITT reportedly provides physical presence at field perimeters during major operations under the pretext of “oversight audits.” Unofficial accounts describe him delivering food or insisting on medical evaluation post-mission. Tone analysis of their private correspondence demonstrates sustained familiarity, coded humor, and a pattern of mutual caretaking disguised as procedural brevity.

behavioral assessment

M. E. Punitt:
Displays controlled affect with periodic behavioral “cracks” under moral stress. Exhibits physical cues—jaw tension, prolonged silences, pen-tapping, and tendency to remain standing during briefings—interpreted as displacement of emotional distress. High empathy score but demonstrates suppression to preserve authority. Consistently over-involved in PROJECT M1-0000 operations, often bypassing delegation to observe BRANHAM first-hand. Shows marked internal conflict between institutional obedience and personal allegiance. Analysts assess PUNITT as experiencing “moral burn,” defined as sustained ethical dissonance with continued compliance. Nevertheless, he remains the most effective compliance authority recorded for BRANHAM.
A. J. Branham:
Responds to PUNITT’s direction with conditional trust and subdued defiance. Exhibits notable behavioral regulation in direct presence of PUNITT versus documented volatility under other supervisors. Subject demonstrates a tendency to mirror PUNITT’s emotional tone, suggesting residual imprinting from early mentorship phase. Emotional markers indicate complex attachment—resentment, dependence, and enduring care—consistent with trauma-bonded hierarchies in long-term containment relationships.
Joint Dynamic:
Mutually dependent. Conflict arises primarily when PUNITT acts under ████████ orders contrary to prior personal assurances. Despite repeated ruptures, both demonstrate predictable reconciliation cycles within seventy-two hours. Their cooperation yields consistent containment success but perpetuates personal deterioration on both sides.
Analyst commentary notes: “The relationship between Assistant Director M. E. PUNITT and Contractor A. J. BRANHAM remains operationally indispensable yet behaviorally unsustainable. It is the Bureau’s most reliable containment partnership and its most ethically compromised. Supervision continuation is recommended under enhanced psychological oversight. Direct separation is contraindicated due to probable subject destabilization and risk of uncontrolled manifestation events. — Conversations suggest that each man regards the other as the last good part of the Bureau, and each resents the other for proving that good parts can still break things. The Assistant Director feeds him, argues with him, and orders him back into the field. It works. It shouldn’t.”

quick summary—what to expect. writing with arthur means slow-burn, character-driven storytelling in a grounded modern setting. he is restrained, observant, and deeply principled, carrying quiet intensity rather than overt force. his magic is real and consequential, but it exists beneath the surface, shaping his life without defining every scene. threads favor atmosphere, subtext, and emotional pressure over constant action, with relationships built through patience, proximity, and shared experience. arthur is compassionate to a fault, slow to trust, and quicker to give than to ask. he is not a power fantasy or a narrative shortcut—his competence is human, his mistakes matter, and connection with him is earned over time.

who is arthur, really?

arthur j. branham is a man who grew up in instability and learned early how to be small, useful, and unobtrusive in order to survive. his upbringing instilled a deep sense of vigilance and self-reliance, along with an ingrained belief that love is conditional and safety is temporary. adulthood did not soften these lessons ; instead, they were reinforced by institutional cultures that reward compliance, endurance, and emotional restraint.arthur moves through the world with the habits of someone who has spent years being observed, evaluated, and measured—careful with his words, deliberate in his choices, and slow to reveal anything that could be used against him. he is not loud, domineering, or openly volatile ; his presence is felt through attentiveness rather than force. he listens more than he speaks, notices small shifts in people and environments, and carries himself with a practiced neutrality that masks deep moral conviction. arthur is compassionate without being naïve, principled without being rigid, and exhausted in a way that comes from prolonged exposure to systems that demand silence in exchange for survival. he is slow to trust and even slower to ask for help, but once he does care, it is deliberate, enduring, and all-encompassing.culturally, arthur is shaped by service-oriented spaces: law enforcement, federal bureaucracy, emergency response, and the quiet moral weight that comes with them. he values competence, follow-through, and mutual respect, and he is deeply uncomfortable with grandstanding, cruelty, or careless authority. he believes in doing the right thing even when it costs him personally, but he struggles to believe he deserves care in return. he tends to internalize guilt, downplay his own pain, and frame self-sacrifice as responsibility rather than trauma.interacting with arthur means engaging with a man who has lived long enough to know how easily good intentions curdle, and who keeps choosing compassion anyway—not because it is easy or noble, but because he does not know how to be anything else.

public reputation. to most people, arthur j. branham barely registers at all—and that’s largely by design. he presents as a quiet, competent private investigator or consultant with a restrained demeanor and no appetite for attention. when his name does surface, it’s usually attached to work that resolved cleanly: a missing person found, a situation de-escalated, a problem handled without spectacle. civilians who interact with him often come away with the same impression—calm, attentive, and respectful, if a little distant. he listens carefully, explains things without condescension, and has a way of making tense situations feel steadier simply by staying present. people tend to trust him without fully understanding why.he is remembered less for who he is and more for how he makes situations feel safer. witnesses, families, and bystanders often describe him as patient, steady, and unexpectedly kind—someone who stays when others step back, who explains things carefully, who notices distress and responds to it without being asked. he has a habit of getting involved when no one else will, especially in moments that fall into gray areas where responsibility is diffuse and help is optional. that impulse, paired with a quietly caregiving nature, makes people gravitate toward him instinctively.he is hardworking to the point of self-neglect, and while most civilians wouldn’t name it as such, many sense that he gives more of himself than the job strictly requires. some remember him sitting with them long after paperwork was done, checking in when it wasn’t necessary, or taking on burdens that didn’t belong to him. rumors follow him in small ways—strange timing, unlikely survivals, things “working out” when he’s present—but they’re usually brushed off as coincidence. to most, arthur is not a legend or a mystery. he is the man who showed up, stayed too long, and left things better than he found them.professional reputation. within government and interagency spaces, arthur’s reputation is split and uneasy. on paper, he is known as reliable, disciplined, and unusually effective in complex or volatile situations. he is the kind of investigator supervisors assign to problems that have stalled or quietly gone wrong, trusting that he will shoulder responsibility without complaint. he is respected for his work ethic, his restraint, and his tendency to protect civilians and subordinates alike, often at personal cost. people under his command or alongside him tend to trust him quickly and follow him willingly.at the same time, there are persistent rumors. strange things happen around arthur—cases that defy expectations, outcomes that feel improbable, moments that leave seasoned agents unsettled even when reports come back clean. some colleagues speak of him with near-reverence, calling him a stabilizing force, a miracle worker, or, quietly, a savior. others are wary. they describe him as unsettling, too calm, too self-sacrificing, too willing to step into danger without visible fear. to certain offices, he is an asset whose results justify the scrutiny placed on him. to others, he is a risk—an anomaly whose presence bends outcomes in ways that are difficult to explain or control.as a result, arthur exists in a tense middle ground: valued but watched, relied upon but contained. he is trusted with people’s lives, yet rarely trusted with full autonomy. admired by those he protects, feared by those who prefer predictability. in classified corners, his name carries weight—but never certainty.

what's it like writing with arthur? arthur's story is rooted in modern urban fantasy and shaped by institutional horror and political thriller frameworks. authority, bureaucracy, and moral compromise are not background elements but active pressures in his life. his life often revolves around containment rather than freedom, survival rather than victory, and the quiet violence of systems that frame control as care. power—whether supernatural, political, or interpersonal—is never neutral, and its consequences are felt slowly, intimately, and often without spectacle.writing with arthur means stepping into slow-burn, character-driven threads with a strong literary fiction sensibility. i lean heavily into introspection and interiority: thoughts that loop, feelings that bleed, and characters who rarely know how to say what they should. meaning is often carried through implication, silence, and metaphor rather than direct exposition. environments matter. atmosphere matters. what isn’t said is frequently just as important as what is.as a writer, my focus is on developing arthur’s canon with care—examining his flaws, contradictions, and limits as much as his strengths. growth is gradual and often uncomfortable, and moments of softness or relief are meant to feel earned rather than guaranteed. i’m interested in consequences, in the way choices linger, and in how relationships shift under pressure. that said, i value collaboration deeply. i aim to build stories with my writing partners, not around them, and i enjoy weaving your character’s goals, themes, and emotional beats into the narrative as much as my own.plotting is always welcome and often encouraged, especially for heavier or long-form threads, but it isn’t a strict requirement. some dynamics unfold naturally through interaction. the most important thing is mutual interest, clear communication, and a shared enthusiasm for letting the story take its time.

re : translating arthur into other universes

main canon not working for you? that's okay! arthur, in every universe, is defined by restraint, endurance, and a dangerous capacity for care. he is someone who learned early that survival meant being useful, attentive, and unobtrusive—someone who fills gaps rather than takes up space. whether he is a prince, an agent, a hunter, or a civilian, he moves through the world with the habits of a man shaped by instability: watchful, deliberate, slow to speak, and careful with what he reveals. his presence is rarely loud, but it is felt. he listens. he notices. he stays.at his core, arthur is principled without being idealistic. he believes in doing the right thing even when systems, faiths, or crowns are corrupt, and even when that choice costs him personally. he carries an ingrained sense of responsibility that often tips into self-sacrifice, not because he seeks martyrdom, but because he has learned to measure his worth by what he can give. across every verse, he struggles to believe that care is something he is allowed to keep rather than earn.arthur’s compassion is not naïve or performative—it is stubborn, quiet, and deeply human. he is drawn to the vulnerable, the overlooked, and the moments where help is optional and therefore meaningful. he tends to internalize guilt, minimize his own pain, and frame endurance as duty. under pressure, he grows quieter rather than louder, absorbing strain until it shows in his body long before it reaches his voice.power, in all its forms, sits uneasily with him. whether magic, authority, divine favor, or political influence, it is never neutral in his story. arthur’s abilities are inseparable from his sense of isolation and otherness ; they mark him as useful, dangerous, or sacred depending on the world, but rarely as simply human. his struggle is not learning how to wield power, but learning how not to let it erase him.what remains constant, across every iteration, is this: arthur endures. he survives without becoming cruel. he chooses compassion in worlds that reward obedience, brutality, or silence. he is not a symbol, a weapon, or a solution—he is a man who keeps showing up, keeps choosing care, and keeps trying, against all evidence, to believe that being alive is not a debt he has to repay. view his other universes to learn more.

plotting should occur when: introducing high-stakes elements (violence, trauma, institutional power, supernatural escalation). involving long-term arcs, shared canon decisions, or major character shifts. navigating sensitive themes that benefit from mutual boundaries and expectations. blending universes, lore, or complex timelines.you don't need permission to: write your character being curious, cautious, or unsettled around arthur. introduce tension, disagreement, or emotional friction. let scenes breathe or unfold slowly without immediate payoff. suggest dynamics, themes, or plot hooks that interest you. write you character affecting arthur in meaningful ways (so long as it respects his autonomy unless otherwise discussed).

common places. arthur’s canon takes place in the modern-day united states. his work with the federal bureau of investigation places him primarily in the washington, d.c. corridor—most often headquartered between d.c., manassas, virginia, and quantico—but the nature of his role allows for frequent reassignment. under the pretense of special projects or sensitive cases, arthur can be deployed to nearly any city in the country, often with little notice and limited explanation.when he isn’t working, his routines stay small and unremarkable by design. he tends to pass time in coffee shops and late-night cafés, quiet bars, live music venues, libraries, and art museums. when he needs air, he disappears into parks, nature trails, fishing spots, or running routes away from crowds. on better days, he finds his way to gun ranges or gyms ; on softer ones, animal shelters or volunteer work that doesn’t ask questions. his world is realistic, restrained, and deliberately ordinary—built around places where he can exist without being watched too closely.

a note about his work

in his primary canon, arthur is considered an independent private investigator, though he is still formally contracted with the fbi. it is important to note that, while he is officially regarded as a civilian, the contract he is in with the bureau is highly restrictive and dictates what privileges and personal freedoms he is allowed to have in his role. he was coerced into said contract due to the government's need to assert control and monitor his capabilities for their own needs. while he is still passionate about providing for others, he is notably tired, irritable, and distrusting of the bureau now that it has locked him down as an anomaly, asset, and perpetual threat rather than treating him as a person.arthur has a wide array of professional experiences: local law enforcement and emergency medical services from his youth, covert informational work with counterintelligence, high-risk response work with the critical incident response group, and special project consultancy under the supervision of the critical incident response group. any of these expertise may be used or referred to in-character. it is encouraged that writing partners reference these backgrounds and experiences as it pertains to their characters and plot ideas.

common people. although typically reserved, arthur has an uncanny ability to draw people into his orbit. whether it’s his attentiveness, his impulse to step in when responsibility is optional, or the quiet gravity of someone who stays when others leave, he is often remembered—even if not by name, then by presence. people recall how he listened, how he explained things without condescension, how he didn’t rush away when he easily could have. as a result, arthur has accumulated a loose, informal network of individuals across his life: baristas who keep his order memorized, bartenders who pour without asking, librarians who set books aside, local service workers, government employees, first responders, bystanders, families, and former clients who remember him as someone who helped when it mattered.not everyone remembers him fondly. there are also people who view him with ambivalence or quiet resentment—colleagues who found him unsettling, supervisors who disliked how often he bent rules for people rather than policy, civilians who wished he would stop asking questions, or professionals who sensed something off about him and preferred distance. some see him as inconveniently principled. others as overly involved, too soft, or strangely hard to categorize. these neutral or negative figures rarely confront him outright, but they exist at the edges of his story, shaping the limits of where he is welcome and how far his reputation can travel.arthur also has a small but significant roster of recurring non-playable characters (npcs) who serve as anchors to his history and inner conflict. detailed information about each npc can be found in the personnel report. they reflect different pressures, failures, and possibilities in arthur’s life. they represent institutional loyalty, chosen family, moral compromise, lost mentorship, and the costs of survival within systems that do not protect their own. most of these relationships are rooted in his work, underscoring his workaholic tendencies and the way his identity has been shaped by service, duty, and oversight. these npcs may appear directly in threads, be referenced in conversation, or influence scenes from a distance. additional npcs may be introduced as arthur’s story evolves, reflecting new stages of his journey and the ongoing tension between who he is, who he is expected to be, and who he might still become.

genre and themes. arthur’s biography is shaped by a blend of urban fantasy, psychological crime drama, and political thriller, with strong influences from noir, classical tragedy, and quiet horror. it is firmly rooted in a modern, believable realism. institutions behave like institutions, violence has consequences, and survival is rarely clean or heroic. power, in any form, is never benign. arthur’s abilities exist beneath the surface rather than on display, treated as liabilities to be managed, hidden, exploited, or justified through policy and protocol. his magic is not spectacle—it is intimate, invasive, and bodily, tied directly to trauma, memory, fear, and the cost of being known too well by the wrong systems.the crime and character-study framework defines how arthur moves through the world. his work centers on investigations that prioritize procedure over theatre and truth over comfort. answers are fragmented across reports, sealed files, surveillance footage, and half-confessions. justice is slow, conditional, and often bureaucratic rather than righteous. this is where the noir influence lives. arthur is observant, restrained, and deeply tired, navigating environments that reward silence and punish transparency. he survives by reading people, absorbing pressure, and deciding which truths are worth the personal cost of pursuing.the political thriller element emerges through federal oversight, covert programs, contracts, and institutional control disguised as protection. arthur’s conflicts are as much systemic as they are personal. autonomy is limited, dissent is reframed as instability, and care is often weaponized as compliance. layered over this is a psychological lens that refuses to soften the damage. depression, guilt, and fractured identity are not background traits but active forces shaping his decisions. the horror of his life is quiet and persistent, found in surveillance rooms, clinical language, and the constant threat of being reduced to an asset rather than a person.ultimately, arthur’s story is about endurance rather than victory. it is about living with damage, resisting dehumanization, and choosing compassion in a world that repeatedly asks him to disappear. hope, when it appears, is small and dangerous, not because it promises rescue, but because it insists he is still allowed to live on his own terms.

MAGIC AND OTHER

learn power

key traits

  • soul-bound: inseparable from his emotional and physical state. damage, exhaustion, or distress affect it directly.

  • intimate: naturally manifests through sensation, intuition, subtle force, or quiet miracles rather than spectacle. can be coaxed into louder, abrupt powers if pushed or needed.

  • reactive: often triggered by empathy, fear, or protective instinct rather than conscious intent. used as an extension of self rather than an outside tool.

  • costly: prolonged, uncontrolled, or overbearing use takes a toll on his body and mind. there are always consequences.

  • othering: its presence changes how people perceive him—sometimes reverent, sometimes afraid, rarely neutral.

the soul and what it costs. arthur’s magic is a core part of who he is. it exists in every universe, regardless of setting, title, or profession. while its outward expression may change from verse to verse, its source does not: arthur’s power comes directly from his soul. it is not a learned skill, a blessing freely given, or a neutral tool. it is something intrinsic, invasive, and deeply personal—something he lives with rather than uses.his magic is rarely the point of the story, but it is always present beneath the surface. it shapes how the world responds to him and how he moves through it, even in scenes where it is not actively visible. it most often exists as a deeply rooted sense of presence—an instinct to navigate or interact with existence through unordinary means. when it does appear, it is subtle, bodily, and consequential. power around arthur tends to show itself through pressure, intuition, emotional bleed-through, or quiet impossibilities rather than spectacle. the most consistent tell is physical: shifts in his eyes (a change of iris color from natural deep brown to bright bioluminescent gold), light where there should not be any, the sense that something in the room has tilted off-balance. he exists in pressure and radiates it—either within himself, or against seams of the world.arthur’s relationship with his magic is defined by control, restraint, and fear of harm. while the use of his magic is often intrinsic and instinctual, he is keenly aware of what it costs—not just to himself, but to others. across all verses, his power has made him isolated, scrutinized, sanctified, or feared. because of this, he treats it as a liability first and a capability second. he does not reach for it unless he has to, and when he does, it is often tied to moments of stress, grief, empathy, or necessity rather than dominance or ambition.importantly, arthur does not view his magic as proof of destiny, superiority, or moral authority. if anything, it sharpens his discomfort with being watched, used, or turned into a symbol. his central struggle is not learning how to wield power, but learning how to exist without being reduced to it.

interacting with arthur's magic

arthur's abilities do not need to be central in order to write with him. some threads may never touch his abilities directly, and that is completely valid. arthur himself rarely discusses his magic and has been taught to avoid drawing attention to it in order to survive. it is not uncommon for the fact of his power to remain subtle or undisclosed early within a story. while you should not ignore his otherness and supernatural capabilities, there is no need to put emphasis on this part of him outside of what is needed for the plot.it should be noted that most of his original settings are mostly low fantasy—he is often considered the only known supernatural entity in the worlds he lives in, which has contributed greatly to his history and experiences with the people around him. while some of his abilities are thoroughly outlined in his classified lab report under the definitions and context of the u.s. government, a lot of his power leans relatively soft—pulling from the sense of unknowns and uncertainties that the world has for him and he has for himself. he does have limits though, particularly with how much power his physical body can endure, and while the specifics of his power may remain undefined, it is important not to ignore the fact that even unknown magic can carry consequences—and arthur is a man deeply involved with consequence.

consideravoid
noticing when something feels off around him and choose whether to question it.treating his magic as a shortcut, solution, or undisclosed macguffin.
writing your character sensing pressure, warmth, unease, or inexplicable feelings in his presence.forcing large-scale displays or definitive explanations without plotting.
exploring how institutions, faiths, or systems respond to what they cannot neatly explain.framing his power as proof that he is destined, chosen, or beyond consequence by default.
engaging with the emotional fallout of his power rather than the mechanics.

regardless of the universe arthur is in, it is important to treat his magic as another layer of his character and a natural facet of himself. his abilities are best understood as an extension of his core conflict: a man who carries something dangerous and luminous inside himself, and who keeps choosing restraint, care, and humanity anyway.

quick how-to-use. the following wishlist is a record of my current interests. i have tried to summarize a list of general plot points, ideas, characteristics, elements, and themes that i would like to explore with my writing partners. this list is in no particular order, though any priority / highly wanted items will be denoted as such. any verse-specific plots will be tagged and linked to the appropriate verse page. you will also be able to view my wishlist tag using the links to the right. my in-blog wishlist tag is reserved for random notes, ideas, and posts that resonate with plot points and ideas i am interested in.if you are unsure where to start when it comes to writing with me and arthur, it is highly recommended that you choose one of the following points below to base your reply/starter off of. i will love you forever if you slip one of these into our threads, or approach me to develop more on these ideas one-on-one.

main canon
resident evil
you've acquired arthur's main / resident evil case file. it doesn’t matter how—leaked, handed off, buried in something you weren’t meant to see. what matters is this: you know more than you should. the system is lying, and he’s at the center of it. you can close the file. forget what you saw. pretend it isn’t your problem. or—you can do something with it.

note: other in-universe materials that can be referenced in-character include the personnel report and all files under the document archive.
highly desired !!
plotting encouraged.

main canonyou wake up in the same bed after crossing a line you can’t uncross. friends don’t do this. friends don’t look at each other like that after. one of you is already pulling away—writing it off, calling it a mistake, restoring the world to what it was. the other is still lying there, realizing it was never just friendship to begin with. do you pretend it didn’t happen—or risk everything by admitting it meant everything?plotting required !! pre-established. related blog post.
prince of velgorodyou were already losing the battle before the demon arrived. by the time you see him, it’s too late to tell which side you were on. the trees burn where he walked. the ground is scorched black with men who never had the chance to run. those still alive either scream or pray. and in the middle of it stands him. blood-soaked. unmoving. watching. those golden eyes turn to you. are you an ally—or just another thing he’ll have to survive?highly desired !!
plotting encouraged.
prince of velgorodyou hear the strike from down the hall. you know better than to follow it. but you do. and when you turn the corner, you nearly collide with him. the prince. blood on his lip. breath uneven. something shattered behind his eyes. he’s just stepped out of the king’s chambers. you’ve heard the rumors. devil child. cursed heir. something not meant to live. but this—this looks like a man trying not to fall apart. his gaze lifts to yours, wet with something dangerously close to apology. is this the monster they warned you about—or something far worse?plotting encouraged.
prince of velgorodthey told you not to speak to him. the prince is a liability. a curse. something the court tolerates but does not trust. and yet—he watches everything. remembers everything. and tonight, for reasons you don’t understand, he chooses to speak to you. quiet. careful. like it matters. like you matter. why you? and what does he want?plotting encouraged.
sanguine slayeryou weren’t supposed to see what his blood can do. it spills wrong. not like something meant to fall, but something that chooses where it lands. it doesn’t stay liquid. it moves. gathers. answers him. and then it becomes a blade. the thing in front of you—immortal, untouchable, ancient—dies screaming like anything else. when it’s over, he’s still standing there. pale. shaking. quiet like nothing happened. those gold eyes flicker to you. how much did you just witness—and how much of it was meant to be seen?plotting encouraged.
sanguine slayeryou see something standing behind him that shouldn’t be there. before you can focus, his hand is over your eyes. “don’t look.” firm. immediate. “it notices.” he turns you away, keeps you moving until it’s gone. he doesn’t explain. do you ask what’s following him—or pretend you didn’t see it?highly desired !!
plotting encouraged.

verseslist of ideas
main canon- college years: what was college like? friends, rivals, acquaintances—what did they learn about themselves and the world around them? how did they cope with where they came from and who they want to become?
- police force years: he's a little prodigy, but is that all? how does he fit into the community when he is the furthest thing from normal on the team?
- special agent years: covert missions, long hours, non-stop travel. oh, and also, the government is starting to get suspicious... maybe you are too.
- break the cycle: he's working on a case to tear the whole classified program down. but you notice how easy it is for him to keep going back to the job that owns him, and you're not sure how you feel about that. is he really trying to break the cycle, or is he just a part of it now?
resident evil- the anomaly: they told you he was "just a consultant." well, you ever see a consultant do that?
- hunting or hunted: you know what he can do, or at least, you have a vague idea. are you here to retrieve him, or are you stuck with him while he's being chased by someone else?
prince of velgorod- a coup: you heard the prince is trying to start a coup against his own father. is it true? and if so, what will you do now that you know?
- on the frontlines: you’ve fought under him for years and still don’t know what he is. captain, prince, demon, the thing that survives every battle that should’ve killed him. you're not sure what you believe in, but some day you know you'll see the impossible and have to decide for yourself. highly desired !!

pro tips

  • i will always recommend plotting, but don't let that prevent you from just jumping in! if you feel comfortable running with an idea, by all means—do!

  • this is not an exhaustive list. it is a casual record of things i am interested in. it will be updated whenever i get around to it!

  • you're always welcome to reach out if you have any questions about anything here.

  • make sure to read the verses each idea is tied to. that is the best way to understand the lore / background behind the plot hook.

  • want something quicker and easier to follow? check out the wishlist tag on my blog. most ideas there are more generic for easier access.

DRAW A CARD TO REVEAL YOUR FATE.

arthur j. branham as the hanged man by yorsy hernandez

xii. the hanged man

you were sacrificed. you were always going to be changed by this. escape was never the question — only what you would become afterward.

the hanged man signifies suspension, sacrifice, and enforced delay. traditionally, the figure is inverted—removed from ordinary time, caught between action and consequence. this is not voluntary martyrdom. this is capture. the card marks the moment a life is paused so it can be examined, repurposed, or endured.for arthur, fate is not a single incident. it is a sustained condition: a long-term state of being held in place by belief, by authority, by systems that learned early he could survive what others could not.

first faith, then policy. first doctrine, then protocol. his body becomes a site of meaning for other people’s plans.the suspension is structural. not rope, but scaffolding. rebar. architecture meant to support something else. he is caught in the bones of a city still under construction—walls, windows, open sightlines. his fate is not isolation, but exposure. he hangs where observation is possible. whatever happened to him was not sudden. the blood has time to dry. the damage becomes ordinary.everything around him continues to move. investigations unravel. red lines snap free from their pins. weapons empty themselves. restraints fall open. authority loses its weight. addiction spills and smolders. nothing that once defined him can remain in his hands. even the tools meant to protect, contain, or justify him no longer know what to do.the hanged man teaches vision through inversion. when movement is denied, perception sharpens. arthur learns the cost of being useful. the fragility of good intentions once they pass through institutions. the quiet violence of systems that frame endurance as compliance. he survives by stillness—by observation, by letting the structure hold while he keeps himself intact. enlightenment does not arrive gently. it arrives because there is nowhere else for it to go.the ravens appear as witnesses. not executioners. they circle because something remains unresolved. because suspension is not the end state—it is the condition that precedes understanding.his palms are open, not in surrender, but because there is nothing left he is permitted to keep. his eyes are closed because continued awareness would mean collapse. this fate was never about punishment. it was about utility. he was placed here because he could endure it. because the system believed he would not fall apart fast enough to stop them.this card does not promise rescue. it marks inevitability. what happened to him was always going to happen. the only uncertainty was whether he would break—or remain intact long enough to understand what was done to him, and why.the hanged man says: you were not saved by grace. you were not chosen because you were weak. you were changed by time—and by how long you were able to hang there without letting go of yourself.
